My cuttings from Ted
Comments (19)Cindy I had my parvifolia in the rooting aquarium with bottom heat and it started to yellow and rot. I freaked out and took it out and just kept it out in the open with my orchids and made sure to keep it moist and it rooted. I would not worry too much but if you see it start to struggle try a lower humidity rooting environment. I got my plant in last years DL order and it's still pretty small but I am just glad to have it because I had been searching for that species for a while. I pin down long cuttings as well because they will root at every node and sometimes along the stem if it is covered in poting mix. I like to use that plastic covered telephone wire because I have a bunch lying around but I have used pebbles to weigh down stems and plastic twist ties in the past with good results. After the stems are well rooted they could also be cut to encourage many growth points but you would have to be sure there are sufficient roots before trying that. Mike...See MoreGag gifts
Comments (19)I found the tax shelter in this posting when searching for a gift for my brother. He is a tax preparer and has everything. So I just had to share what I did for him. I took one of those woodcraft houses from Walmart- removed the two screws from the base. I cut a 1" block of wood that fit into the bottom of the house. I glued this block onto the base thus allowing the top of the house to be easily lifted off the base. I cut a 1/2" groove in the center of the block with the table saw so I could set a card of thumb tacks into it. This was hidden in the house until the top was lifted off. I wrote a poem for this & read it to him while my daughter did a Vanna White presentation of the house. Everyone got a good laugh out of this and I finally did a complete craft project! It's been a while. Hope you have as much fun with this as we did. Here's the poem: I drew your name for Christmas It's an honor, don't you know To get my brothers name for Christmas Ah! ashopping I will go. But then I started frettin After searching high and low Whatever will I get 'im (Twas wrong to worry so!) I went into an office shop Maybe something for your desk? I talked to the clerk a lot She tried to aid me in my quest. He could use a tax shelter Is what the lady said It seemed a bit off-kelter But there was nothing left instead. So here's your little shelter All painted so very nice The foundation has been mended The roofs' been polished thrice. The flowers are all blooming In the big pot by the door The bumblebees are buzzing And there's no sawdust on the floor. It seems to be the perfect place I do agree she's right It sure beats a plain old case And your tacks! They're finally safe at night!...See Morewanted: i am so ex-sigh-ted! i made out big time!

Comments (32)I'm not trying to be a jacka$$ about TK. I don't wish cancer on anyone. I'm actually surprised he passed because he looked good in that photo I linked to. Nothing like my dad did when he was sick. The cancer made my 69 year old dad look in his late 80's. I'm also glad that he did a lot of good; the accident had an affect on him and from the little I know, he appears to have done a lot of good due to the tragedy. I was reading that he should have done at least 2 months in jail & would have liked that he done some sort of time; I dislike when people with money get off. What ever happened that night, he killed a woman; and from the way it looks was probably drinking. Having said that, he had to live with this & I don't think it was easy for him; especially being in the public eye. Him not reporting it right away & getting a DUI (if he was drunk) would probably have been the lessor punishment. He had to read the stories, see the press & try to go on every day. Maybe he was punished. It had to be hell living with it for that long. Hopefully he's resting in peace....See Moregreenman28 NorCal 7b/8a
