Comments (3)Do not force your son to "be a friend" Your son is establishing his place also and feels like people may not like him either. Since you are kind of involved, maybe you can go to a counselor or have your son talk to a counselor or Principal or the teacher. Many schools will step in when they see problems start. Our schools here are very active in the program Character Counts. They have programs, special speakers, etc. If your school does not have that program, I would suggest talking to the school officials. You did not say what grades but it sounds like around 7-8 or middle school. If it is not corrected, their could be violence later. Good luck...See MoreHappy Thanksgiving to all my old GW friends!!!
Comments (5)Happy Thanksgiving!!! I, too, have returned to the forum. My kitchen was finished 3 years ago this month. The very hardest decision I made was the darn backsplash! The wonderful folks here helped me w/ that dilemma. I still love my backsplash and it is a fav part of my kitchen. Have a wonderful feast this Thursday!...See MoreTo re-pot or not my grand old friend ?
Comments (16)It looks like Notocactus magnificus. It looks like it is extremely potbound and in need of a repot. You would probably need to break the pot to extract the roots and then tease apart the roots to separate them. Most will be dead roots which will fall away from the rootball. I try to repot my larger cacti every 3 years or so and fertilize them between with slow release fertilizer applied around the top of the plant. I think if you simply leave the cactus in the pot, you will see an early demise of the plant as the old dead roots build up and there is nowhere in the pot for the development of new roots. You could also break off some pups and root them as new plants so when the mother plant dies, you have some to carry on growing....See MoreMy 70 year old friend is not safe from virus
Comments (39)Another email from my friend I called senior services and they told me that they have a van called Metro Connect. It used to cost money to take it, but during the pandemic it is free. It will take seniors to the doctor and/or the grocery store. They only take a few passengers at a time and you have to wear a mask. So that will solve that problem. In terms of masks at this senior living facility -- when I called the state, they told me that our governor has "recommended" masks but has not mandated it -- so there's nothing to do about some people not wearing masks here. And in a place with hundreds of people, there probably is no way to enforce it anyway. And after reading the article about the particles going through ventilation systems, there may be no getting away from it. I know that my airconditioning unit is for my apartment alone -- but I'm not sure about the heat. I know I'm not in a good place for this time -- but I'll just keep doing the best I can. Thanks for all your concern and the concern of your forum....See Moretapla (mid-Michigan, USDA z5b-6a)
