I've ordered from Wild's several times, both daylilies and peonies, and the plants were in great condition. My friend also ordered peonies and daylilies and she raved about how nice they were. They were large and grew into huge plants. She has a couple peonies out by the street at the end of her walk, and people stop by to comment on their size the whole time they're in bloom. My mother who has been gone now for 18 years ordered from them for years. When she had to move in with me I moved her daylilies also. I still have them. I wouldn't personally condemn someone w/o first giving them a chance to make it right. If they did not, then I would BLAST them! Also, we don't know what the shippers do to them while in transit.

You will not necessarily get double fans--most of the time, probably, but no guarantee. The selection is limited. However, I agree that the plants have always grown, and generally the company stands behind its plants. If you are a collector, G&W is not the best source, but it does carry some excellent standard cultivars (such as Bela Lugosi). In terms of peonies, yes, the roots will be smaller than from companies specializing just in peonies. But those I got last fall from G&W were better than the pathetic things I got (at a high price) from Hidden Springs.

I've made several orders from them over the past three years, for older cultivars. Their divisions are smaller than most sellers, but I'm not looking for instant impact, and within two years the Wild plants have been just as nice as the larger ones from other sellers. I don't mind taking a chance on something older or different from them for $3-5 during a sale. I've only lost one of their plants out of 20 or so I've received from them. (I also got some nice peonies from them two years ago, which bloomed magnificently this year.) So, their smaller fans are not necessarily lower in quality than big fans from other growers. It depends on what you're looking for. I like the older cultivars, and I'll most likely order from Wilds again in the future. Laurel

Yes, see my post. My only problem is that their photo of Persian Berry iris I ordered is totally deceptive, but I think I'm going to like what really might be anyway. Jedi Free Spirit looked like pink in the catalog, and I got peach and am not happy about that. I'm not sure if one bonus lily was mislabelled or not, doesn't matter, I like it. Other than that, I've had fairly good luck with their iris and daylilies so far, don't grow a whole lot of either, but plan to do more. Oh I got a bunch of Color Parade oriental lilies. They were very short the first year but bloomed huge blooms, not exactly like their photo but close. Their photo was much prettier than mine actually are but still pretty showy. This year they aren't as tall as my Star Gazers and Aubade (ordered the latter from them, too). Aubade turned out beautiful but instead of multiplying are diminishing, may be my soil. I would order from them again but do my homework about specifics of the exact plants I want first rather than blindly going by the printed catalog or online photos. Like google by name, check davesgarden user photos (often look so different can't be the same variety), and ask people on the appropriate forum about it and to post photos if they have any.
