Everything from the location to your planting sounds just right. Soft new growth often tends to wilt until it has had a chance to mature. It is possible, however, that the root ball has dried out despite the fact that you soaked it before planting. Water with just a slight trickle fom the hose at the base of the plant. What you want to do is get water into the root ball without saturating the surrounding soil. Digging up the root ball to check it is also a good idea. Roughing up the root mass often needs to be more than just a little. You want to eliminate circling roots and expose root ends. Album, btw, just means "white". It does not indicate a particular rhododendron variety. Catawbiense album is commonly available and is a hardy, adaptable choice. No fertilizer is necessary or desireable unless a need is indicated by a soil test in the first year of planting.

gee, livin' up here in Ned has its advantages! Today was about 82 with a breeze. Granted, the dust and pine pollen is just crazy and today seemed crazier than usual, but the cooler temps make it so worth it!! I can't wear shorts even though I am still happy with my legs/knees/arms, but it takes about 3 minutes, literally, for me to turn red and then about a day for me to get another shade darker. I wear water babies sunscreen 45 and long sleeves and pants! My hat is gigantic and woven of paper and nylon. It seems just the right combination of fabric to keep my head fairly cool. I get so tan that I even have a tanline from when I was a teenager...twenty years ago!! Nope, I haven't laid out in the sun since then. My skin is too sensitive and I don't want my tattoos to fade. Plus, my father's side of the family is super white/pink and a lot of them developed skin cancer. No thank you! I like to take the hose with the spritzer head and aim it on mist up in the air above me. Oh, yeah, the cool drops falling down are so nice! It may not be as hot up here, but it only takes a little heat to make me go off! After having sun stroke about ten or more years ago, I've been so much more sensitive to the heat than I already was. I drink fluids as much as I can and pretty much have to force the water in. I eat immense amounts of fruit; grapes, cherries, watermelon, grapefruit and whatever the little co-op has. It is a good way for me to add a little water to my system. Oh, I have about twenty hats that are garden-worthy, one which reads "om shanti" and has little bumble bee pins on it. The big one is the best because it helps keep the sun off my shoulders and the back, front and sides of my neck as they get fairly hot covered up with clothes. AND, we are thinking of picking up a kiddie pool so I can cool off during the hot parts of the day and so the dogs can stay out longer with me. One has such dense and fluffy hair that she just overheats and the two little ones are so small that they would probably turn into prunes! Man, you all are funny... J.

Holy Toledo, thats my daylily! Ever since she had bloomed I dutifully searched every hybridizers site that I have purchased from every year. Nothing ever came close. I new it looked like an Emmerich but could not find anything close to it on her web page. Sadly I only have this and one other Emmerich dayliliy still here. They can't take the heat even here. Much above 85 degree's and the blooms were ruined. This one can go to at least 95 with dew points in the high 70's and still looks great. But can't attest to anything hotter yet. I love this daylily thank you so much. I had given up trying to get a name for it. I figured it was a seedling that got mixed up in my order. Just could not understand why it had not been introduced as in my opinion (at least) this was a class act daylily.

Unless it's really dark/cloudy outside, we don't really need lights on during the day except in the cooking part of our kitchen. While it does get some light from windows on the north and west wall during the day, and probably doesn't need lights on when in there, we usually do turn on at least one light when we are in there during the day. Unfortunately, the south wall has most of our cabinetry plus our stove and fridge, and it directly faces our neighbor's house/kitchen window, so we don't have any windows on that wall which would bring a ton of light. If we ever get around to remodeling it, I want to add at least one window on that wall - even just one would add a lot of light. Today it's cloudy but still kind of bright outside, but the kitchen light is on - mainly b/c my kids never turn it off! If i'm home alone, I only turn it on if I'm actually in there. No other lights on in the house at the moment though. Our family room has 10 windows on three walls and the other "wall" is a huge opening to our eating area of the kitchen, so that room gets a ton of natural lighting. Aside from the kitchen, the only other "dark" room in the house is my boys' bedroom but even still, it has a south facing window so gets enough light during the day, plus they are rarely in there during the day anyway - at school! I have one light in our living room on a timer in the winter - the window faces the front street side, right near the front door. We don't really use that room much at night, but I think it makes the house look more welcoming from the outside, plus it means no one coming home alone (esp my kids) enters into a completely dark house.
