NXR, Fisher Paykel, Bertazzoni 36 inch gas range opinions please
Comments (1)Don't know anything about the F&P. Never seen one. Don't recall any posrings on them. Might help garner comments if you can post a model number. Comparing Bertas and NXRs is a bit like comparing high-style Italian-made sedans (Bertas) to basic, manual-everything, industrial styled imported high-lift 4wd pick-ups for ranch work and off-roading capabilities (NXRs). Bertas are sleek, counterdepth, euro-ranges. Used to be that you could get them in colors. I suppose you've already tried searching for threads? (Sometimes helps if you go out to google and use a search string like "gardenweb + berta"). Have you seen this current thread? http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/2981897/any-users-reviews-of-bertazonni-36-gas-cooktop-or-rangetop?n=9 They have narrower cooktops (that's the counter-depth part) with some peculiarities in operation of the cooktop and oven. Don't know anything about LP conversions of Bertas. If you like the Euro-style appliances (narrow cooktops, small ovens, etc.), you might look into the Ancona ranges at Costco. More Italian euro-style equipment but about half the cost of the Bertas. Most of the NXR postings here have been about the 30" models. Friends of mine on the coast have had a 36" NXR since 2009 and are still pleased. I've had my 30" model for going on three years now. Don't know much about the LP conversion kits except that Costco.com carries them as extras for (I think) around $50. We've had some postings here from folks who had the LP conversions done for them by their vendors and a couple of those folks weren't happy with the quality of the conversion work. Otherwise, the NXR seems to be favored more by the DIY crowd. Great for those who like those capabilities and have the ability and interest in doing their own maintenance and repairs and/or fiddling when and if needed....See MoreI’m planning to buy a Fisher-Paykel 30 inch classic induction range.
Comments (160)Not sure if wall oven interior sizes compare to range oven sizes but ..... Today, I spoke with an FP customer rep asking for measurements of interior, and rack dimensions (usable space to fit cooking sheets). I was told the info will be e-mailed to me tomorrow. Not holding my breath. I am seeking specifically for the 30" single wall oven pro...OB30SPPTX1. I did measure the double-oven version of this in person a while back .....but am not trusting my own notes b/c I wasn't seriously considering this model then because of $$, but now there is nicely discounted un-opened return available. My measurement were : FP racks 20 1/4" wide and 14 1/4" deep , lowest level rack to broiler element 13 1/2 (with glide rack)...my current 27" GE Profile racks are 21 1/8 wide by 15 5/8 deep . bottom rack to broiler with glide rack 10", with regular rack 11 1/2". What really appealed to me mechanically on the FP oven is the glide rack system...seems sturdy, smooth and comes all the way out. There are so few reviews for the model I am interested (like 5-6 and they are the two extremes Love/Hate). A friend of a friend shared that she has purchased only FP ovens for three homes b/c she's is so happy with baking results. If anyone has any experience recently with FP wall ovens please share ! thanks...See More36” Fisher Paykel Induction Ranges
Comments (8)Thanks. Do you happen to have one of these or have experience with their installation? I did see the installation guide references a 50 amp plug, but the problem is their quick start guide and their product specification say Power Requirements: Amperage 65A. (See https://www.fisherpaykel.com/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-fpa-master-catalog/default/dwe34c9d25/QRG/US/QRG_US_81710.pdf and https://www.fisherpaykel.com/us/cooking/ranges/classic-ranges/induction-range-36in-5-zones-with-smartzone-self-cleaning-or36sci6x1-81965.html) Since a 50 amp outlet can’t provide 65 amps, one of these has to be wrong. I agree the installation guide is likely correct, but since my wiring won’t support 65 amps and the restocking fees are pretty hefty, I’m just hoping to get some additional confirmation! (Edited to fix links. Sorry for the awful fomatting; the mobile interface is terrible.)...See MoreFulgor Milano, Fisher Paykel or Ilve 36" Induction Range
Comments (18)@Lee M, when you refer to cleaning the oven door glass, do you mean you have to take the door apart and glass panels out to clean between the panels? I have to do this on my old Kenmore Elite electric range (electrolux)., and it is a PITA! I looked at a oven door in the gas version, though I want induction, and I could see where spillage from liquids could get in between the panes of glass. Is that the case? thanks because that may help me decide on my next range....See MoreLee M
