I don't know how big his collection may be. I don't know what conditions he/she grows their plants. I've seen mold spread fast. Both times they were ISI plants. This is common this time of year, damp, cool, no air, sets the conditions up for this problem. These plants are not expensive, and obtainable at Squw Mt. Nursery, and I made my suggestion on that basis. Nothing is written in stone. Thanks Karen, by the way I did look it up trying to figure out what it is. It is not listed in my Western Garden Book. Guess work would not work, you need to know the exact name of that problem, or you can't cure it. Molds can also make people sick, and if the spores spread into the walls, he could have big problems. I encountered this same "yellow stuff". I "pulled up" some succulents from my parents house last year at Thanksgiving and just placed in a pot w/loose soil on top of them because I had planned to pot them up soon...it was closer to Christmas when I finally got around to it. Same yellow stuff on a Euonymus Emerald Gaiety which was left in the original store container for over a year. With both plants I scraped off the yellow stuff which also produced small little "balls" which looked like styrafoam. They are both re-potted and thriving.

The ducts in the attic are round silver tubes and connect in the ceiling outlet via a square box--- of which the receiver-vent is screwed to !! The box is what I want to cleanup.

A saprophytic mold - dog vomit fungus. BTW - the fertilizer you're using is one of the most egregious rip offs I've ever seen. Probably worse than Eleanor's VF-11. The packager of the product was here a while back promoting it. This is my reply to her: You're confused. 3:1:2 is a RATIO, and your fertilizer contains NPK somewhere near the shamefully low %s of 0.28 : 0.09 : 0.06, which is nowhere near 9-3-6. 9-3-6, 12-4-8, and 24-8-16 are all commonly used examples of 3:1:2 ratios. It's absurd to try to convince people that your product somehow makes it easier to fertilize. Both products need to be mixed in water. 8 oz of your product makes 384 oz of maintenance dose solution. The same volume of FP 9-3-6 costs less than 1/3 the amount of your "fertilizer", and makes 24,576 ounces of solution with the same NPK %s. So it makes 64X as much at 1/3 the cost, which means you're asking people to pay 192X as much for their fertilizer; this, w/o knowing what's in it or the source from which it derives it's nitrogen. BTW, I fertilize every time I irrigate during the winter (but not summer), and I use FP 9-3-6. I can't speak for others, but I would NEVER purchase a product that claims to be "fertilizer" but doesn't list the NPK %s OR inform the customer what, aside from NPK, is in it. Caveat emptor! Dyna-Gro provides a detailed ingredient mix for everything it contains above trace amounts, and provides its N source. I'd be very interested in exactly what is in your "fertilizer"? Al
