Replacement for API Filstar XP

I have a 36G freshwater aquarium, somewhere around 15 years old. I originally had a Magnum 75 canister filter, then a smaller API Filstar, then a medium sized API Filstar XP about 6 years ago:

I think it's on its last legs, though. Even after a good cleaning and with only a microfilter in place, it barely has any pressure at all. No leaks that I can find, but I can put my hand in front of the output and feel that it's only barely working.
I went to order a replacement, and imagine my surprise to find that the whole line is discontinued!!
So I'm looking at this as an alternative:

The canister will be sitting underneath the tank (in a cabinet) so it needs to suck up the water, drop down about 4' to the filter, then push it back up 4'. Do you think this is a good filter for the job?
If so, would you use the 200 (rated up to 55G) or the 300 (up to 75G), considering the distance it has to push up?
