Not so fresh instant yeast

headmotty

I know this isn't specifically a cooking forum, but I'd be willing to bet quite a few people do their own baking here.

So I recently bought a 1 lb. package of SAF instant yeast. The manufacture date says 1020, which I take to be October 2020, and the best by date is 1022, October 2022. It's October 2021 now, so that means I received one year old yeast that is already halfway through it's stated use period.

It is in a vacuum sealed package, so a solid brick right now, and I will keep it in the freezer after opening it, which will extend the life quite a bit, but still...I would have hoped for some fresher product. Anyone think this is kinda unacceptable, and maybe I should sent it back?
