When to cut back Common Milkweed in NJ zone 6

Paulina

I have Common Milkweed planted in my front yard that's literally taking over. I am more concerned about providing for caterpillars and pollinators than aesthetics. I would like to know when is the best time to cut back the milkweed after it blooms? I don't want to cut it back if the caterpillars and pollinators are still using.
