U.P.O.'s Unidentified Pretty Objects
Comments (6)@ Kate. All my roses start out as Unknowns. You see, the people here are usually unaware of the classes of roses and even their names. They're usually sold under a common name as "Valentine Roses" or "American Roses" and under those names different colors and classes appear. The second white one was called a "Valentine Rose" and along with it were other roses of the same name that were Red chinas, and Pink HTs. It's quite hard to identify them, so the Rose ID forum is my most extensively used forum here.. By far only two of my roses have been correctly identified; Center Gold, and Olympiad. The others are still in the dark but their possible names have been narrowed down to a small list. The ones here are ones I have totally no leads on. Comments (9)LOL Well, it'll probably work okay - WHEN I use it! LOL Have been busy and just haven't gotten to try it yet. Will try to post a photo when I finish, but I've been going round and round with Photobucket and I don't know why! Thanks for asking, though, that oughta get me motivated! Comments (23)I have experienced this phenomenon myself a couple of times. Once it was just a missing pair of scissors, this was before I had scissors all over the house and I needed that pair of scissors and they were not in the drawer. I searched the house numerous times and looked in that drawer at least 10 times. My husband searched and also looked in the drawer several times. Two or three days later, the scissors were back in the drawer. A few weeks ago, we went to take a shower and when we came back there was a beach towel sitting on the arm of the loveseat. I asked him why he put the beach towel there and he said he didn't know anything about it and he looked at it, puzzled. I was even more puzzled because I knew I had not put it there and in fact, I had not seen that beach towel in months. We kept trying to come up with a reason why it appeared there and we could not figure it out. It kind of bothered me for several days. We never did figure it out. I now call it the haunted towel. The other day, there was a bathmat laying on that same arm of the loveseat and I started to panic just a little bit until my husband told me that he had put it there. Comments (4)This morning the OK Mesonet said that the lowest millibar recorded in OK (not necessarily the lowest millibar with this huge storm, as that likely was in another state) with this storm was 977 at Kenton, and it is the lowest pressure ever recorded anywhere in OK. Of course, I think they've only been recording this data for the 25 years that the Mesonet has been in operation. Larry, You're welcome. I'm glad you find the info helpful. Amy, Well...who knew that wind like this would hit your windows at just the right angle to clear out the cobwebs? That is pretty cool! At least some good is coming from all this windy nonsense. The sun came out here and I got very excited. After all, my plants have been hardening off for at least a week under cloudy skies, and we all know that the cloudy skies haven't prepared them for sunny skies. Actually, I think they had sunshine on Day 1 and Day 2, but not since. So, for Day 7, they got almost 2 hours on the front porch in the sunshine, fairly well sheltered from the wind. I think the worst wind they were exposed to might have been gusts in the 20s. The wind gusts have been stronger this afternoon, but the plants were indoors by then. It seems like our wind is continuing to slowly strengthen here, basically from west to east, so we weren't having really strong wind earlier this afternoon (gusting only in low 30s) but in the last hour it has been gusting into the upper 40s at times. I'll be glad when it is done. I hope the rain is drying up some of the mud. Wind will continue overnight, but I think tomorrow it should be sunny and somewhat less windy. Now, for everyone who wants to know the Maximum Wind Gust recorded at the OK Mesonet station nearest them today, here's the Max Wind Gust Map. OK Mesonet Maximum Wind Gust Recorded Since Midnight I know it is March. March is windy. Got it. However....I'm completely over it! I'd just like to have a normal warm Spring day with moderate wind and no rain. Is that going to happen? Soon? I hope so. Dawn...See Morenickel_kg
