insipid, you don't really need to worry about a long term solution for a container plant. You can easily add a bit of vinegar to your watering bucket and get the job done, which is what many container citrus growers do. Ask about this over in the Citrus Forum.

My Mom always says you should never thank someone for a plant because if you do it won't grow. I have expanded my explanation to "Thank God for the plant, not me, I am only passing it on." I also do what I call "faith farming" -- plant it & pray it grows. Although I pay attention to the science aspect of "farming" it is not what I base my "farming" on. It is by faith that I grow & am blessed with a harvest. To me, the only thing more miraculous than seeds & plants are babies -- and I had 5 of those. I did try peas a few years back. I didn't get much from them, so didn't try again. In hind sight I think they were planted too late & the heat got to them. I have been working on growing asparagus. Not only do we like to eat it but I also like the idea of perennial veggies. Next year will be my 4th spring & I anticipate a big crop. The plants are doing well. Last year I only got enough for me to have a serving at lunch. This year I did get enough for the family to have some for dinner. So next year should be good. During the winter I have my houseplants to keep me busy & tide me over to spring. They tend to suffer a bit in the summer. For my birthday (last Sunday) my husband got me a small orchid & one son gave me a small, indoor rose bush. Everyone came over & helped dig up the area where I am putting a perennial flower garden. Around the edge they put the 10 lb., 1920's paving bricks that I "rescued" from the street repaving project that has been going on outside my house all summer. They also helped me with the compost piles. It's all stuff I can do by myself, but doing it alone takes so much time, energy & effort. This was a really big help to me. Then I fed them -- eggplants, tomatoes, cukes & peppers from garden. Along with sandwiches & mac & cheese, plus 3 different cakes & 3 different types of ice cream. One of the best birthdays I have ever had.

You are a hoot :) We miss you guys. boxer: I am SO glad you opened the thread...it said food porn so I thought for sure.... make the salad a day ahead. It needs to set to get the full flavor . Also be sure and double the dressing liquid but not the spices. And also make sure and use 1 1/4 c boiling water per 1 c cous cous and add the raisins into the bowl before the water. Give it a quick stir and then cover tightly...I use a dinner plate and let it steep. You will be so pleased. Very fluffy. Make sure and post pics !! c

Linda- Aren't you being just a tad over-dramatic, possibly narrow minded, or do you really have such high standards that it causes you to become ill thinking someone uses an option to fresh citrus juice? As you can see from other posts in this thread, others happen to like (and use) TRUE products Here's a reality check, fresh citrus is often very expensive where I live, while a packet of TRUE lemon (lime or orange) will do just fine for small amounts of juice in recipes, sprinkled on fish, added to a dressing or spread for flavoring, making a quick recipe of Lemon Bars - or where a bottle of lemon juice gets wasted from neglect - as the original post indicated (wasted food is the most expensive food we buy). Those of use who are accustomed to home food storage try to have something that is a viable option that has a long shelf-life and still has good flavor and value. Our personal standards may be different - but different isn't right or wrong - just a choice. If you haven't actually tried the TRUE products, don't knock it - your criticism about the unknown isn't at all helpful in the conversation - it's just your preconceived notion without merit. If you try it, please have an open mind to those of us who don't have fresh citrus falling from trees in our back yards, and $1 (or more) for a tiny lemon when you need 1 teaspoon or 1 tablespoon of juice is just not going to happen. -Grainlady
