Palatine or Pickering. Pickering has an amazing list of old roses too (they offer 900+ roses every year). Both websites are on for browsing with the exception of the new listings and the prices. The new additions probably will be listed in August or early September and from that point on they will accept orders. Both nurseries ship both in fall and spring. Minimum order is 3 roses.

I purchased Pretty Jessica as a bare root plant from Pickering Nurseries (in Ontario, Canada) in Fall 2011. They are stocking it presently, but cannot ship roses to the US because of a new interpretation of the law regarding the root stock they are using. I suspect that they will correct this problem in 2013. Another nursery, Hortico (also in Ontario, Canada) also stocks this rose and has it available for shipping now. Many on this site have had bad experiences with this nursery; specifically in being shipped very small or non vialble specimens or mis-labeled specimens. I was trying to obtain a few of the older Austins which have become very difficult to find and placed my first order with Hortico this year. I was pleasantly surprised with the size and health of the specimens that arrived recently. However, the one rose that I was looking forward to getting, may be a mis-labeled rose. I have the book "100 English Roses for the American Garden", that has detailed photos of the flowers, leaves, and stems of 100 of the earlier English Roses: the prickles/thorns in the photo of Cressida are very different from those on the canes of the specimen that was sent to me. I notified Hortico the day after the roses arrived, and the told me to plant it and take a photo of the flower, in the event that it did not appear to be correct, and to send it to them. If the rose turned out to be mis-labled, they said that they would replace it with the proper rose. I have read that many who frequent these forums, have had similar experiences in receiving mislabled roses, but never received a replacement or a refund. I do know that there have been more favorable reports more recently from others, and I am hopeful that my experience with this company will go well.

deereyebrow, my zone 3 summers generally are not overly hot, though there are exceptions. In my experience, if kept well watered, the large flowered types take the heat in stride and I believe it's no different for the sieboldii's As for other top favorites of mine, here's some in no particular order: Perle d'Azur Marie Cornelia ... a very nice small flowered white, though blooms on this one can be rather easily damaged Romantika ... a beautiful variety, though mildew prone Viola Barbara Harrington Prince Charles Victoria Jackmanii Superba Semu Princess Diana nhbabs ... snowfall in my region is rather reliable with constant coverage being commonplace, this is very beneficial when bitter cold descends. Other than being deeply planted (4 inches down and about 8 inches away from the cement foundation) the plants are not given any extra winter protection other than what snow might fall upon them. I do not hill them up with soil for winter, as the root zone is warm and this would cause tender new growth to push up through the mound of soil. As a side note, I've been growing clematis for nearly 35 years and have never noticed any problem associated with being planting near to a cement foundation, at least that's been my experience. Ron, Phoenix Perennials might be worth looking at if you're into agaves, yuccas, and sedums. They started doing mail order a year or two ago. The owner is a great guy and I suspect he will increase the selection of agaves over time. I ordered from Plants Delights once before and am tempted to do so again this year, but, of course, it gets expensive when ordering from Canada. I finally orderd a couple of plants from Jamie at Valley Succulents, who is also great to deal with, but will pick the plants up in Comox in the spring.
