Hi again Dogonit. Beeone tells it like it is- you'll be eating your own corn, tomatoes, even eggplant and sometimes canteloupe. I don't know what the laws are regarding transplanting from the wild, but my own thought is that if done with an eye to conservation it's harmless. Many populations tolerate a little thinning. We've moved a few things -ferns, larkspur, violas (Johnny jump-ups) that have done well, but we were disappointed when a ladyslipper orchid (cypripedium montanum) died out after a couple or three years. We would not have lifted that one except that it was in the way of road construction. Rocky Mountain Wildflowers is a good choice, in my mind. There are others, but the Craigheads know their stuff from long experience. Local nurseries should be good. I lean towards older, funkier outfits. My wife worked for one just west of Helena in the 60's, but the name escapes me. As to the weather, remember there's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing. Lay in a supply of polypro long johns, fleece jackets and vests, Woolrich and Pendleton shirts, gloves and mitten liners, and a few nice wool sweaters, and, of course, Malone pants (with suspenders, I hope!) for real comfort. Dress in layers so you can customize yourself to the (ever-changing) conditions. Insulated coveralls can make a world of difference when you're ice-fishing on Canyon Ferry or Georgetown Lake in the middle of the night in December. Montana people aren't like those back east because they're rarer. In the east there are so many people they get in the way, and people need to shout to be noticed. In the West there's so few, outside of our little cities, that you tend to be glad to see them when you can, and a whisper can be a shout. At the same time, we tend to value our privacy, and the opportunity to be alone in the hills or on a lake or river somewhere. Sometimes the measure of a good friend is somebody you can be alone with without much talk- so you may run into a peculiar kind of taciturnity. Plus, there's some jerks, too, but that's another story ... Best, M

This is just a bit amusing to me. Not what Natanya went through at Hardy's, but just some thing that turned up on the net when I googled Hardy DL garden CT. What appeared to be an independent review of Hardy Daylily Gardens appears if you follow the link posted below. The review which was posted today no less has nothing but the utmost high regard for the owners of this establishment. I read through this whole thing and then looked at the links to the right of the review. To the right of the post you will see this link (Click Here to View Our List of Favorite Outdoor Plants to Grow in California). Anyway I went ahead and clicked on this and it takes you to Amazon.com and if you look to the right where it says about this Listmania author. Underneath you will see the name J. Hardy "expert", and below that "Plant Expert" Like I said above, I think it's pretty amusing that someone would right a review dated today in the wake of this unfortunate insident (and its repercussions by way of negative feedback), and when you follow the links it leads right to someone else whose last name happens to be Hardy. Hmmmmmmmmm. Could this have been written by a truly satisfied customer?? Maybe, but when you see the name at the Amzon site it does make you raise your eyebrows and wonder some. People do make mistakes and we all have bad days. If and when it happen you say you're sorry and get on with life and work a bit harder so the same thing doesn't happen again. Hi Scott, We just found your response, and we appreciate it. The Sears technician has 1) confirmed that our warranty includes labor, 2) ordered parts, and 3) scheduled tub replacement. With warranty inspection done, a strip of sticky duct tape over the crack allows temporary use without heated drying (and without leaking). It seems our unit's serial number was *NOT* included in the fire-related recall, and that is a relief. We still need to contact your office for a minor collateral issue. We are left wondering... 1. Do reports of similar cracks under dishwasher heating elements suggest a design issue? Our 120 degree F supply water must be further heated by the unit, we use a major brand's dishwasher detergent with enzymes, and we always use heated drying. So, could some combination of heat and chemicals damage polypropylene, and should we modify our use to protect the new tub? 2. Are Sears Repair Service reps under time pressure with restricted responses? Those we spoke to seemed unable to grasp our main concern: why should anyone pay $129 for a warranty determination? If under warranty for a design issue, please fix it; if not, the best time to choose repair or replacement is *before paying any repair cost.* All appliances eventually break, but over decades, we have had typically long service and almost no *premature* troubles from Kenmore products. The repair technician was a very nice guy. We cannot understand this first telephone experience with Sears repair service. Perhaps not at Sears by design, but as telephone reps at some companies respond more favorably to threats or pushy behavior, they unwittingly advance a general decline in civility. It's disheartening that the polite customer sometimes gets left behind. Thank you again for responding.

Very sorry this happened to you , braverichard. I read over J&P warranty, I did not see anything being required to buy in within their stated hardiness zone for the guarantee to remain in tact. If that's their policy, they should state it, and be prepared lose most of their tree rose sales to those not in zone 7-10. I also notice that good customer service companies have some form of escalation for valid reasons that fall outside of their warranty...I recently received refunds from both Amazon and Uber for situations that fell outside their warranty, because they made sense. Wayside, J&P and esp Park seed brought me much happiness when I was a kid. It's sad to see them in decline, their offerings are not that competitive in today's world, their reviews are bad, I would guess they're not exactly profitable, either.
