Floor Plan Review Photos of Plan
Comments (6)Thanks for your input Renovator8. Are all of the major spaces awkward? Which ones in particular look the worst? Do you have any suggestions on how I could make this flow better? We've looked at how we live on a day to day basis and how we would like our home to function. This plan seems to be the best flow for our lifestyle, but some help from GW may help us change it for the better. If you were to provide some more feedback I may understand why it is so awkward. I'm definetly an amateur so I would love some input on how to make things flow better. I do recognize that some aspects of our plan is not traditional in the way most houses are being built: i.e. stairs are by the entrance, not accessed easily from the interior of the home. Living room is at the back of the home and not accessed through an entry to the home. There are some reasons why we chose to do this. On the east coast of Canada we have a much more informal way of living. We entertain in the kitchen/ dining room (kitchen parties) rather than the living room. We will have a covered deck off the kitchen since we do have so many kitchen parties. Sometimes women and children gather in the kitchen/ dining and the men will go to the living room or the garage. Many people including us do not use their basements other than storage and utilities such as hot water heater, furnace etc. The stairs are usually only accessed to store seldom used things such as extra supplies, seasonal wear and seasonal decorations. Our lot is set up so that all of the outdoor living and access to the home is on the south side. The north side is 100 acres of family woodland that won't be accessed. I hope these extra details of our lifestyle and how we would like our home to function will help you provide us with some input....See MoreFloor & Decor product reviews needed
Comments (5)I used to be pretty much a fan of F&D when they sold a lot of remaindered stuff, but since their big expansion last year, the overall quality of what they carry seems to have gone down. I'm guessing they made themselves big enough to make it worthwhile to have a lot more stuff manufactured for them. Aside from the potential quality issues I'd tread cautiously because there is definitely a very specific F&D look these days. I can always tell when a house is a flip and they did their shopping there. That's not a look that will age well. But to be fair I don't know that lack of reviews is a sign either for good or ill, because now they change their whole line every few months even though it all always looks exactly the same....See MoreParadigm vinyl floor review-White Sand replacing oak floors
Comments (3)I think it’s Kardean. I decided against it because I did a hammer test and paradigm, cortex and Adura did better. My final two or grey or oak vinyl (same color as the original). The grey flooring matches my tiles. But Oak seems to be warmer and not have heavy contrast with furniture. I have a lot of artwork in different colors, I’m using neutrals, deep green as my palette, and will add accent colors through out....See MoreHas anyone installed woodland reserve serafina hard maple flooring?
Comments (3)I cannot speak to the quality of Floor and Decor - don't have a local store, but their online reviews seem to indicate that there are issues with customer service and returns. https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/flooranddecor.com https://www.houzz.com/pro/flooranddecor/floor-decor When I purchased my flooring it was through Flooring America, one of several chains in the CCA family (Pro Source, Carpet One, Flooring America, Floor Trader Outlet). I was debating between 2 different floorings. They ordered me a box of each color and told me that I could not return the flooring, but I could exchange any of the boxes if/when I ordered through them. I had done some price checking and knew they had the lowest price on the flooring I was looking at, so their offer worked well for me....See Moredani_m08
