soshh - thanks for restoring my faith in humanity. :o) I just got off the phone with RH after being told yet again that I was out of luck. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and lo and behold, we were able to figure out what the problem was. Apparently, WITHOUT MY ASKING, the previous rep processed a new order for the same Chatham pulls, but in a different size. These were shipped to me this morning, and I had no idea they were on the way. Everyone I spoke with kept telling me that the discounted pricing had already been applied to "my order," and I had no idea what they were they were talking about. They thought I was just trying to get them to honor the pricing on a completely new order, and didn't understand that what I was trying to order was supposed to be the replacement hardware for what I had returned. Isn't that the weirdest thing? So now I have to watch for this box of 37 pulls I didn't want and refuse it or send it back. Good grief! ;o) The good news is, I finally got what I DO need ordered, and they gave me the sale price on it. You all now have my permission to shop at RH again. ;o)

RM...whoa. First of all, thanks so much for the thumbs up on my hardware choices. Second, your kitchen looks great! I have admired it many times on GW. Third, kudos for being such an awesome mom. You have two kids at two extremes and I know that both can be equally challenging. I totally love Zoloft and Lindt Chili Chocolate. But like you said, that *is* a totally different story altogether ;) Let me be clear. I do love Christopher Peacock kitchens. If he wanted to gift me one, I would happily accept. I am just so bored with the expense of his kitchens and do find that they lack a certain personality. Or should I say, pretty much only contain *his* personality. Still, they're hot to look at! I am flattered that you are asking little old me for advice, but I am sure there are much much MUCH more experienced members who would actually know where to begin. For me, I read your post, looked at your kitchen, and couldn't figure out why you wanted to change your kitchen. It is very Peacock-esque. The furniture feet support that look. I can't tell from the pic what the space is between the fridges. Is that a desk/message center? I am intrigued by your love of pink and am wondering why the rug in front of the sink isn't pink! I honestly really like your kitchen and, to be truthful, do not want to offend you with any critiques that might be not up your ally. The main thing is, I am not sure what you want to achieve with reworking things. From the sound of your post, I take it that you want to warm it up a bit and lighten that wall of upper cabs. The main thing that came to mind when I looked at the kitchen was that it would look really nice with no upper cabs. But that probably would not be very practical. I know when designing my kitchen, I thought it would be lovely to have no uppers...but where would I put the food? OMG..I could have had a really big pantry next to the fridge. Oh crap, that would have been better! Man, see what you've done? Now I want to redo *my* kitchen and it hasn't even been installed yet!

A little pricer than others, but I am happy with my restoration hardware knobs and pulls. I have ORB Ephram pulls and knobs, PN Bistro pulls and PN aubrey knobs. I have not had them long. Right now the ORB looks matte black (or nearly black.) I do not know if the ORB wears like a traditional ORB (i.e. over time and use the bronze shows through.) It seems pretty solid. My Baldwin front door knob/handle is naturally wearing through and I really like that look (but if you don't I understand you can re-oil them.) I do know that the PN has a lacquer finish so it does not "tarnish" or whatever the word is for loosing it's luster. In retrospect I would have purchased lacquered PN somewhere else because that was the look I liked and didn't know how to get it. I only bring this up because you can ask if the ORB has any type of preserving finish. Wow - I just pulled out an unused ORB hanson knob (it is hefty) - it has detail that is clearly a faint bronze showing through. From a distance it just looks black but when you get up close it could be called a very dark brown with dull bronze highlights. I guess it matters which style you get. If you order from RH through the store, not online (and even on the phone) you don't have to pay shipping. YOu can always buy and return if necessary. Good luck.
