On M26 and M9 I believe the issue is not the result of incompatibility and a resultant weak graft union. I think it is merely a concentration of carbohydrates with no useful place to go. The union may actually be stronger as a result as I suspect that that bulge contains a lot of phenols and other wound protecting chemicals. This is just leap of logic, not based on info I've read that is scientifically verified. You could call it BS but I'd like to think of it as educated BS. Maybe someone else has an answer based on actual research. The failed graft union I mentioned earlier had no unusual bulge and looked normal.

It is a large and beautiful native plant in the right location. It is perennial and will come back each year if you keep it. Toxicity shouldn't be the only reason to get rid of a plant. LOTS of plants are toxic/not healthy to go nibbling on including many people willing plant in their gardens and keep in their house. FataMorgana

It does sound like you have a lot of them! I haven't seen all that many on my plants this year - I guess they're all hanging out in your yard :-) is that normal for a balcony container? Yes and no. I've been growing all my plants in containers for 18 years, and I have seen it like you describe several times, but it does not happen every year. When it does happen, it's because I also have an out of control aphid problem, and the ladybugs show up and start munching away. Sometimes I don't notice the aphids initially, because they're hidden or they're the same colour as the plant. But when I see tons of ladybug larvae or pupae, I always find signs the aphids were/are there as well. Could you describe the colour and shape of the eggs you are seeing? Yellow and oval, or brown and round? BP

Tulips? I'm not sure coz I've never let these grow to the point of seeing flowers. I bought the house 2 years ago, had a new lawn laid down last year, I can't remember any tulips before that. And I didn't find any bulbs when I ripped these things up. How do I get rid of them permenantly?
