At the rate and level you use a propane heater, it may not have the same effect on your plants... it may not be enough to affect anything... it may be that certain plants aren't as adversely affected by the exhaust, either. I'm not really sure. I just remember very clearly all the poor Poinsettias dropping wrinkled, yellowed leaves... some of the plants wilting and dying... it was quite a loss. I think if you're circulating a little fresh air into the mix, you will avoid any possibility of bad effects. Good air circulation is important for enclosed growing spaces, so it's something we do commonly, anyway. I'm so glad to hear you are getting some relief from cortisone shots! That's great news! :-) My husband went through the cortisone shots decades ago, when they first were trying to treat his damaged spine. They worked on a temporary basis, but the damage is too great, I think. He's been through every treatment there is, except actual surgery... which we refuse to go through. There are no guarantees he would come through any surgery without becoming completely paralyzed, and we're just not willing to take the chance, until he already is paralyzed. At that point, we have nothing to lose by trying. Of all the people we know who have gone under the knife for back problems... and that includes quite a few people... not one has gotten the results they expected, and a few are worse for having had surgery. We don't like the odds. And we can't afford the best surgeons or the best treatments, so we're kind of stuck. The last treatments he had were some steroid injections, which seem to have given him more range of motion in his neck, which is a good thing... but his back is about the same. It's trashed. I'm in better shape than he is... but we're both what we call "semi-crippled", or actually semi-disabled. Oh, well... what can you do? We just roll with the punches... life goes on! It's nothing spectacular... just a small 10'x12' Harbor Freight special. We got it on sale, and had a carpenter friend put it up for us. African Violets are so pretty, but I haven't had much luck growing them. They always seem to die on me. I'm very lucky to get the few orchids I have to stay alive and limp along! In fact, I freaked myself out earlier... I went to mist the Phal I recently transplanted into a new pot... it was dying in the moss the grower had it in... and I noticed that the tiny little Dendrobium keiki that Chaz sent me several years ago is throwing up its very first buds!!! It's the first or second picture on the first page of my 2011 photo album. I'm so stoked!! I actually kept it alive, and it's decided to gift me with blooms! I couldn't be happier! See? This is one of those wonderful moments in life that I would have missed if I hadn't been taking my time, looking carefully at all my plants... it's just amazing! :-) I hope I didn't jinx it into dropping its buds! ;-) Oh, anyway... Morz i am 36. I did have a good time. I did not get nearly as annoyed as I normally do, as the food was all made ahead and just had to be reheated,except for some Buffalo chicken dip egg rolls that I made last minute. I was given all the compliments and accolades I deserve. Then I came home and made chicken quesadillas and rice for SO. Now I am watching Two Fat Ladies with my feet up. I am worn out but I have had a lot of other things going on this week besides the cooking marathon that I had to do. Nothing excessive. I had to take a stray orange tabby tomcat to the vet to have him fixed. He has decided he lives here now. Which is fine. Outdoor cats are always useful out here in the sticks. I named him George. George, the Duke of Orange. He is a cuddle bug which is somewhat an issue because I am allergic. So me and Allegra have been best friends lately. I had to go all over creation to try to buy a new fridge because mine is giving me attitude and NO ONE can deliver one before the turn of the next century it seems. I finally got one ordered and coming in a week. Seriously, why does it take a miracle to get an appliance lately? There is a dead creature, I suspect a mouse in the wall in my master bathroom which is making me hate my whole life. And I have lots of overtime coming up. So a party was a welcome distraction,even if I did do all the work. A success!

Our broccoli and collards look great. They stand up to freezes well. Last year I planted spigarello lisca broccoli. It doesn't make heads like broccoli, but it made wonderful greens that didn't mind our summer and laughed at bugs. I need to remember to plant it next year. Nancy, I've frozen mushrooms like that, but I thought you bought them frozen, LOL. Funny Rick I know the terms slave cylinder and master cylinder from a truck that sat in our front yard for a long time. Ron kept replacing parts on the clutch. He finally sold the truck. If I remember correctly Totally Tomatoes was a good company that was sold. Not so good since then. Seeds n Such has beefmaster. I think the owner used to own totally tomatoes. (I think this was a Đawn story.) I have purchased from Seeds n such. They're ok, and I think when someone had problems with germination they were quick to resolve the issue. We do buy canned soup, makes a quick lunch. I prefer Progresso brand. They have great tomato Basil soup. And every now and then I like old fashioned Campbell's tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches. That brings back memories. (I am very nostalgic today). Moni, native Ginger and what comes from the store are different. I tried to grow grocery store Ginger without success. I did grow it with a start from Companion Plants .https://www.companionplants.com/catalog/ Also turmeric. Turmeric is a beautiful plant. I even had it bloom. I don't know where Danny got his, which I believe he said was native wild ginger. Re: holidays...I've never been much of a Baker. Occasional cookies. But I realized when Travis was 2 he didn't understand the book with cookies coming out of the oven because he'd never seen it. I always felt overwhelmed taking care of kids and house, so Christmas added to my stress. I don't have those stresses now, but memories make me less then than enthusiastic. Of course Christmas morning is good, just not the lead up. Ok, this was done in "colornote" and the keyboard behaved. In Houzz I would type something and it would jump over to before the last letter of the previous word and type the next word there. Sometimes it skipped letters, usually vowels. It did the same when I changed keyboard apps. I changed to Firefox because chrome gave me trouble with Houzz. I suspect it is houzz, but I don't know where to go now. I don't have room for another app. Also, today FB won't let me paste. Instead of the paste option it says auto complete. If I press that, it asks for a password. In a comment. WTF? Spring Beauty Scilla and one of my favorite crocus that I still have in my Vinca bed...these are large crocus 'Jeanne d'Arc' Crocus My snowdrops do spread and reseed but I had some areas across the other side of the yard where I wanted to establish a patch last year. So I am hoping they reseeded for next spring. Actually, some of the bulbs from my vinca bed, reseed into my front full sun bed just across the driveway. Those particular crocus all get the flowers bitten off and then the foliage keeps getting eaten back to the ground. It's interesting that the squirrels like to eat the bulbs. The crocus in that vinca bed...wow. I can't see how any animal would be able to dig anything up in the vinca bed. First of all it's under a large mature Maple and then the root system on the vinca is very very dense. I tried digging in it a few weeks ago and I was impressed. I'm thinking that's why the crocus have disappeared from every bed except that one.
