Verbena Bonariensis Germination
Comments (10)Ianna, every time I read the suggestion about putting the seeds on top of the fridge I realize the same thing...LOL. Same deal on water heater...insulated to within an inch of its life! My father got rid of the old Frigidaire he and Mom bought when they got married in 1951. All the lights in their current house would dim momentarily when it went on in the basement. Used to freak out guests who didn't know about the old electricity hog in the basement. Old faithful was still working when Dad got rid of it...it was like an old friend. Have a feeling I'm going to be trying a few different ways to germinate these seeds. Thanks for your input. Guess if different master gardeners use different methods the seeds may not be as picky as all the instructions say. I'm prepared for them to germinate erratically but that's fine as long as they germinate....See MoreDogs and Verbena bonariensis
Comments (29)GarlandTeam - So glad for you that your dog made it through. Very scary though!! We dog sit our daughter's dachshund and she LOVES the yard. She can spend 4 hours a day out there, exploring or visiting with the neighbor's kids and dog through the fence. She does put things in her mouth all the time, but I don't see her eating green material. I only see her finding twigs, which we seem to have a lot of and she can keep herself very busy chewing those. Haven't seen any verbena come back this year. She'll definitely eat pea pods if we give them to her....See MoreVerbena bonariensis Meteor shower
Comments (2)I read that it gets 20-30 inches tall. But compared to the straight species, this definitely looks to have more branching and looks denser. And I suspect the lack of seeds will mean it will bloom more profusely....See MorePlanting Verbena bonariensis with Ornamental Grasses
Comments (2)From what I understand this plant is not hardy in zone 4 if you are hoping for a perennial plant. The only verbena I have used is lemon verbena and never again I have now tried for 3 yrs to get rid of it to no avail,...See Morefour (9B near 9A)
