Wow! Interesting list. If I still lived in San Diego, I would love to have tried some of those. Lacking a year-round greenhouse, I can only grow tropicals here if they are photo-period neutral, and will either mature in my summer, or winter over in dormancy (I've wintered over Moringa oleifera).

Haha, and I am about to move away from San Diego in two months. To zone 6b, big change. Ironically when I move I'll have space for plants, in SD my apartment is too small to grow much of anything and with poor lighting it is a burden. I have that seed bank now and I cannot wait to grow, fingers crossed many of the seeds are still viable.

It was a big change for me too. But having grown up & gardened in Wisconsin, I knew what to expect. I really miss the chayote vines I left behind though, can't grow those here... and I miss the fishing. Abundant land & water have more than compensated, and I've been surprised just how much I can grow here.

Yeah, I am actually from NJ, bit also grew up in Indiana as well, so we are both familiar with cooler temperatures I see. I had a large garden to play with growing up, but then I moved to LA after graduation and no longer had space. Now I'm ready to start retaining my salary and investing in acquiring my own space once again. I am moving to Michigan this September. In the Midwest you can still live a quality life without having to make a salary of $120k. :)
