red ginger rhizomes

I forgot about these in some pots I left outside last year. when trying to plant something else in these pots I found these. I really dont know anything about growing ginger. are each of the bulbs a different plant and can cut them off and plant each in it's own pot? or should I just plant the whole bunch in one pot?

The whole bunch already in one pot didn't yield anything.

I believes that is Turmeric. Curcuma longa, syn. Curcuma domestica. in my home country we use both leaves and rhizome as herbs and food spices. crush leaves have pleasant aroma, so does the rhizome.
