Hello! I would like some help & advice on my bamboo plant. This plant was given to me earlier this year, about April. The plant has been growing a lot. I changed the water routinely, and fertilized and the leaves and plant were beautiful and blooming. Last week I changed the pot it was in to a much bigger one since the plant was thriving so well it was on the verge of tiping over since it was huge. I placed rocks in it, and fresh water. Last Friday the plant seemed fine, and then I come to work this morning and the leaves are turning yellow. Mostly on one stalk, but it seems like it's starting on the others as well. There are 6 stalks tied together. I changed the water, cleaned the vase and the rocks and put in distilled water just now. As I changed then, I saw that the stalk by the roots and turning a greenish yellow, but I didn't notice that before. What is going on with my plant? I'm so worried!! What do I do now? I can send more pictures!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!

When a leaf turns yellow on a Lucky Bamboo, it is a sure sign of one's luck runing out. It's even worse if the plant dies. I would get my things in order. Actually it is not a bamboo, and the only people it brings any luck to are the vendors (lucky dollars). What you have is Dracaena Sanderana: commonly known as the ribbon plant. The Yellow leafs can be Lack of nutrients Giving the plant Nitrogen Fertilizer will bring out dark green color in plants. Give half or less the amount recommended on the package. Tip: You can add nutrients to water by adding air to the water. Place the water in the blender or shake up the water in a clean jug or cup.

Too much water. If you have had it four days, you should have watered at most once, if that, if it's in soil. Good re: distilled water, though! :-) I'd also suggest to get it out of any direct sunlight. I keep mine about 25 feet from the south facing window in med to low light. If it's in the original pot, carefully lift it out and see how wet it is. I'd suspect it's sopping wet. And no on the submerging in water! I don't know if that is common practice with this plant grown in water but I maybe take a kitchen shower hose to mine for a quick "shower" lest there be any dust, etc. once every 3 months (?) if that while watering. Otherwise, I try not to even water the leaves when I water.
