Can we talk about Surround/Kaolin and experience with using this
Comments (1)Long discussion about this on the Vegetable Gardening forum. Nothing in it about the other additives and I have never read anything about using it anyway but plain as a dust or mixed in water and then sprayed. Comments (0)We are getting the opportunity to remodel our entire downstairs thanks to Harvey and are struggling with the cooking area in our kitchen among other things. We had a Jenn-Air electric downdraft 42 in cooktop and 27 in Wall oven/Microwave combo located in the area shown below. We have decided to put a DCS 36 in Rangetop and a wall oven with separate microwave in the space. The first item we are struggling with is the ventilation. We are considering getting an island vent hood that has a curved top, removing the glass and cutting out an opening in the center of the brick arch to insert the chimney. Ideally only the unit will match up to the brick and not stick down much. Another option we considered was to put ducting in the wall with a vent opening at the top of the back wall. A closer view of the opening is below. If anyone has suggestions, recommendation or pictures of what you have done with a similar space that would be great. The other item we are uncertain about is the oven space. We would like to put a 30 in oven in (either DCS or Kitchen AID) with a matching Microwave with trim kit. The opening between the bricks is 29.75 in which is the width of the faceplate for either of the wall ovens so if we put it in the existing space the oven won’t overlap the bricks; but there also won’t be room to put a wood surround like the one that was there for the 27 in oven. The pic below shows a close up of part of the wood surround that was in there that is also 29.75 inches so is a good representation of where the oven faceplate would meet the bricks. There is some gap there that was covered by wood trim that I removed. We think this will work but welcome any comments, recommendations, pictures of your setup, etc. Final item – if anyone has comments on the Kitchen Aid vs DCS wall oven. Thanks for your input....See MoreSurrounded in Oak...Please Help
Comments (6)Wow. That's crazy. What's a national distributor? Are you referring to a legitimate distributor or an online seller? Distributors are generally regional. They buy from the manufacturer and sell to dealers. As such, boxes of product go from warehouse to warehouse to warehouse so there's little chance for exposure that might cause warping. If you love that floor, I'd say buy it, but first I'd tell the seller what you experienced and ask if it's normal. Ask them what happens if you buy what you need and there's 40% waste. I might recommend otherwise if I could think of another product that looks like what you like. It used to be something one could find readily from a few brands but seems to have fallen from favor....See MoreFireplace dimensions/ surround remodel Help!
Comments (2)Is that agas FP ? Where I live gas FPs do not need a hearth If you are planning on putting the TV above the FP IMO you need a linear gas FP so that the TV can at least be close to the proper viewing height. I sure wou;ld like to see solar shades on all thos windows so you could actually enjoy the veiw still have heat and UV control to prtect those new floors. The look for a 12 x24 tile you like and tske it up to the ceiling...See Moregrapefruit1_ar
