Has anyone ever propagated Caesalpinia from cuttings?

My Caesalpinia mexicana (dwarf yellow poinciana) is 3 years old and should bloom this year, but it's really leggy and I want it to branch more, so I'd like to cut it back. I read you can root new growth in the summer, but I'm asking more about old growth, since I'll be pruning it sometimes this month. Has anyone had success rooting one from mature cuttings? Seems like it wouldn't be so hard, since it has that bumpy bark that usually indicates easy rooting.
