Comments (8)You have chosen some real beauties there!! They are beautiful. Nice and healthy, well packed and labeled. The roots look pretty good and abundant. I'd say at less than $10 a piece including shipping, that's actually pretty good. Inniswood even has 4 eyes. If you consider your gas/time and the remote possibility of you finding all of those plants locally for that price, I think you'd decide that this is quite good. Also, they are nicely wrapped and packed... I understand about the mixed feelings, though. Most of us like to feel like we got a deal unless the hosta is super rare/hard to find. If you know you prefer to have your socks knocked off with size, are there any known vendors who sell only field grown? It seems like tc is always going to be small and obviously younger. Myself, I'm not getting any younger, so I'd rather pay a bit more and have a larger plant. For that reason, I seek out the vendors who are known to ship large sizes, field grown. After growing liners and finding that I'm not that great at it, I've decided that I'd rather pay a bit more and have more impact right away. We all find a way to justify what we do, if we even need to justify it. Good job getting them all potted up! It's kind of fun to spread them out, document the arrival with pics and post here for all of us to admire!...See MoreLand Of Giants Orders Arrived Today!
Comments (6)I am not used to having so much class in my garden! I may need to require people to put a neck tie on before entering. My Dorothy has a flower spike in coming so I will be VERY sure to put prospective love matches for her within pollinating distance ;) Ken, I was amazed at how turgid many of my plants were! No tape needed! Here are Dorothy and IAT standing at salute! Seducer however... not very seductive and required ample scaffolding... Will post more pics as I get plants situated. First year garden so a lot of moving around to find the right spot! Margaret...See MoreOrdered yesterday, arrived today!
Comments (13)Of course! IMO, word of mouth is the best way to spread the word about reputable sellers (or less favorable experiences). I've had both and always appreciate feedback from others. In wandering around the web, I stumbled across this site http://sphaeroidinstitute.com. This list is a few months old, so wasn't sure what may be available, and emailed the seller inquiring about my selections after perusing the list and creative descriptions. No pictures, though. I asked, but this guy is more old school - including payment method. No PayPal or online payment option. Strictly check or money order. He's very trusting though. He mailed my package (USPS Priority) the same day I put the check in the mail. Without even waiting for the check to clear. I mean, who does that anymore? No one in my experience. He's in Vista, California and I'm in San Diego so I received it very quickly. In regards to bang for the buck, I feel like I got more plant than I paid for and need to contact him asking if he undercharged me. I was expecting the Lithops and H. Cooperi (my 1st choice in that was gone but he offered a better option for the same price so I let him pick one out for me). He said the black H. Scabra was gone though and offered me a cutting of a black clone for free. Those 2 clearly aren't cuttings. Good luck, Tyler...See Morekaboehm (zone 9a, TX USA)
