Why yes, I does :). I have a black coffee table with a lot of brown in the room. Leather couch/chairs and wooden tables and miscellaneous pieces like the tv shelf. My table is from Thomasville. Here's the advertisement version: I've got a couple of pictures that show it in my room, though not all that well. Here they are: Another angle: I think it all works fine. ha ha I didn't notice that! No. It's a normal rectangle. I purchased the sofa table when we first moved in. I wanted to start seedling plants for the flower garden, I was starting. Then a few days ago, like.....two years later...I ran across the end table. I think the pieces are very odd looking. Not particularly well made, no age to it...and just sort of BOHO-hippie. :0) I'm curious about their past.

I'm a fan of #2. I always like the look of two club chairs side by side like that. I think having them together as one unit balances out the heft of a sofa and the huge TV. I agree that it makes sense to focus on the coffee table first. Are there any textures in your room? If everything is just flat wood, paint, and upholstery, I'd suggest a coffeetable that has a bit or texture or reflectivity to it. What kind of books are you looking to store in this room? I got a three tired brass and glass coffee table from West Elm recently and it is a fantastic place to display 12 huge art books. Better than a bookshelf. When people sit on the sofa, they actually gaze that the books, pull them out and read them. I like that.
