Comments (13)Chisue - Thank you for your comments. Yes, the lakes area of Italy is beautiful. I am reading a Donna Leon mystery right now, with Inspector Brunetti. It takes place in Venice, of course, and the title is By its cover. Initially, the mystery involves the removal and theft of pages from rare books, but it looks as though "the plot will thicken" to include more crime as it progresses. Our gondola ride in Venice cost $53.00 per person and was a "gondola serenade" with an accordion player and a singer accompanying our group of about three gondolas. This was arranged through our tour and maybe the price would be different for private arrangements. Perhaps music is traditional while on a gondola, but Venice is so scenic and interesting to see that I would not have missed being without music. I am very happy that I had a chance to see this beautiful city via its waterways....See MoreTrip photos, pt 5 (Paris)
Comments (17)Thank you for all the lovely responses. Sjerin - thank you very much for your comments about my writing. I am so pleased because while I'm not a writer, I do enjoy the written word so much. Chisue - Congratulations on your soon-to-be 50th wedding anniversary. Perhaps a trip to Paris would be a great 50th wedding anniversary gift for you and your DH to give to each other!...See MoreMemory Lane, grocery store promos
Comments (35)I can remember glasses in my mom's car from gas purchases, waiting for someone to carry them into the house.... My first set of stainless flatware was Betty Crocker, it seems like a form was available in different magazines, some box tops and $2 for a place setting. There must have been a limit per household because I do remember collecting and filling out the forms in the names of friends and having the pieces sent to them to then give to me....not married yet then, just thinking ahead. I have prettier flatware but still have the Betty Crocker Oneida too and sometimes we use it. No scratches, pitting, scuffs after 40 yrs, - eight 5-piece place settings was a whopping $16. One fork to my latest is that much, on sale ;)...See MoreUser
