Olivia Rose Austin - growing habits?
Comments (12)My Olivia is a first year grafted. So far I love her. Repeat and number of blooms are above average for an Austin, super disease resistant (not a single black spot, which is amazing in my no spray garden), nice bloom shape and color, good vase life for an Austin, medium fragrance. With local bunnies helping with occasional pruning, she is barely 2x2’ In size, fairly rounded shape, but i am in zone 5b, and I can see her getting bigger in warmer areas. She did throw a much longer cane last month, which i cut off before it had the chance to get to 4 ft. claire...See MoreOlivia Rose Austin - 2019 - Zone 8B
Comments (13)That's reassuring to hear, Claire. She looks too delicate to be very hardy, but sounds like she can be grown in colder zones, just maybe not to the same size as in warmer zones, but that's true of almost any rose....See MoreOlivia Rose Austin in mini vase
Comments (11)Main St, She is disease resistant! The only time I had trouble with black spot was when I was in Virginia (she was in a pot when I got her) and there was a horrible summer with 2 months full of rain! She was also definitely not getting enough sun. Back then she looked really wimpy. Last year where I am currently at we had a similar rainy season, but she was still the first to bloom and black spot was not an issue. Some of the others like Queen of Sweden had blackspot. The two first pictures are Olivia Rose Austin last year and the third is Queen of Sweden (you can see a little bit of the blackspot) both same year same conditions!...See MoreOlivia Rose Austin drooping
Comments (22)Thank you so much everyone for the responses! My blooms are droopy and wilting, looked like they were dying at the end of vase life even though they weren’t cut off the bush! its a first year rose in a large pot, i checked drainage and everything looked ok. i am wondering if it is not doing well in full sun. i am in so cal and we are 80 today and 76 the past few days, so i didnt think it was too hot at all. does olivia prefer more shade? i noticed the blooms perked back up overnight and looked almost normal this morning but now its drooping again around 1:30pm. Here are some photos of my sad blooms. only 80 today and all my other potted roses are thriving! I will move this rose into morning sun and afternoon shade for now. please let me know what you think, thanks again!...See Morejemmalix
