Climber with lavender/red bicoloring like Paradise or Paradise Found?
Comments (8)Hi Cori Ann, Do you need the rose to actually "climb" on something or just need the height of a climber? Paradise is a tall HT with stiff canes that wouldn't be easy to train to climb unless you got the climbing sport...but in your climate, the non-climber might get tall enough as a free standing bush if that fits your need. We have colder winters here, and I prune my non climbing version of Paradise to around 2 ft beginning of each season...still it grows to at least 7 ft by fall each season. Here's the top of mine last July towering over everything else already only half way into our season:...See MoreLavender crush at Walmart
Comments (129)Kristine I agree! While i was super excited to get my first Queen Elizabeth, I wish there were more options! I went to Walmart on a whim and thy just happened to have just finished setting up the roses so I got first pick. Joseph’s coat, LC ( woo hoo! Got another, but there were only like 3 in the shelf compared to a dozen or so of other types), Joseph’s coat, gene boerner, iceberg (I know it’s a BS magnet but I almost feel obligated to try lol), robusta, Don Juan and carefree beauty. But other than that it seems flooded the same few types....See MoreWhat evergreen flowering climber to plant?
Comments (43)NHBabz and Floral UK, appreciate your kind words. Thankfully doing great ! I don't know why I didn't think about the Sunflower idea. I love it !! And you are correct, it would give me more time to really plan for the spot. Would Sunflower be perennial here in South Carolina? I lived in Northern Arizona and I definitely saw some that came back every year. I have a few packets of seeds of different kinds , Fire Catcher , Russian Mammoth, and the smaller white ones. There are so many to pick from. This is a fun idea, the kids are three , five and ten but with a little help they could totally do it and it would be fun for them , they love helping me plant . Do you have a favorite sunflower? Any suggestions on a few I could mix together for various colors , texture and size ? I think it could be visually exciting and beautiful. I'm so happy about doing this, thanks!...See MoreLavender Crush - where are you finding this rose?
Comments (54)Sylvia, is your LC then grown own root? I wonder how it is performing. I assume the feet under the grafted plants I bought were their weaknesses. I owe an update on my diseased throw-a-bucket-of-water-on-folks'-enthusiasm post of a couple years back. After settling in, the bush has been much healthier than initially, and it's a keeper. (I had purchased multiple plants, and all but one grew backwards until they died. The surviving, but erstwhile disease-prone plant now has more established feet under it, and is doing relatively well, though nothing like Ben T's or Ann's spectacular plants!)...See MoreSusan dion
