Yeah, I couldn't seem to re-edit my post after I noticed what my phone's auto correct had managed. I meant "reblooming", since I wanted to express that these are the first blooms I've seen since I bought it already blooming from the store. I can't remember, but I think I bought the plant originally at Lowes about 1 - 1.5 years ago. It had one stalk for a while until it died and grew another in its place. After that it grew two stalks on either side of itself(the ones in the picture) and then it too began to droop. Now the new stalks have nice blooms!

The tag that comes with it says "Canna Lily". It's one of those finger length white tags that just states the plant name. Unfortunately the plant came with no other info.

The day after posting this I began to worry with the blooms falling off so I looked up their lighting and water requirements and found places stating it needs full sun, so I set it out on the patio to get some sun for a while. Thanks for confirming this. I will certainly find them a brighter permanent place in my yard.

Thanks for letting me know that it's looking okay! I never could have imagined that plants were bread to be self-cleaning, so to me they were falling quite early. Thanks for the suggestion as well. I'll be looking for a new spot in my backyard for him tomorrow!

Just a quick
follow up to the canna cultivar you MAY be growing.

IMO you may be
growing one of new F1 Connova seed strain hybrids, Canna Cannova Rose. I did
see some of these new cultivars sold at Home Depot last year.

I think it
will do quite well if adequate growing conditions are met and you may now have
a name for your canna. This would have to be confirmed at some point.

Sorry for
the delayed response to the issue of the blooming buds turning black. IMO you
are likely seeing a fungal infection known as Botrytis cinerea (generally
referred to as Botrytis).

This is a
common problem in many of our flowering plants exposed to damp humid
conditions. Where cannas are concerned, both the buds and open clusters of
blooms that do not dry well seem most susceptible. Sometimes overhead
irrigation, heavy dew or days of rain that prevents the blooms to dry magnifies
the problem. Growing in full sun with air circulations tends to minimize the
problem without the need of chemical treatment. See the link below:

Hi! can you tell me what the name of your gazebo is? We inherited the base but need a new cover for it and dont know where to look. But ours looks just like yours.
