PrairieGirl, that would be a fun thread indeed! I grew some of mine from seed, and others... well, I don't remember exactly where I got them. I think I may have transplanted them from an original clump a few years ago (said original clump failed to come up this year, surprisingly) and I think I bought those original ones as bulbs many years ago. I do think they were Kobold, and the seeds I planted were Kobold also. I figured the curvey thing was because they were in an overcrowded bed and didn't get much attention (weeding, water, etc.). I'm hoping since I have moved a few things that next year they will stand straight and tall. :) Dee

Yes, I believe those "seeds" are the tiny corms generated from the main bulbs. I really like these and have two different beds with them in them. I agree with the others, they would be happier in the ground rather than the hot, black pot, but you will need to keep them watered. I transferred some of these last year (in the fall) from the corms and they came up beautifully. They are in the middle of this bed and also have a group at the lower left bed. I am trying to get the yellow coreopsis to rebloom as my liatris were still blooming and the coreopsis had stopped this year. This picture is a few years old & they had bloomed at same time.

Jay, I think you're right about the Monarchs love the LL during migration. It seems like they love them anytime here at our place. I even had a few show up a few months ago before the liatris was really blooming very much at all. I can't quite remember if there were any at all that had just a little bit of a flower showing; if it was, it couldn't have been much. I remember thinking that those Monarchs will be disappointed showing up here and not having the liatris ready to nectar on. I'm like you and wouldn't doubt if I pulled some liatris out when I was weeding because it does look similar to grass. I'm still trying to get my liatris section expanded or I'd send you plants. I still didn't get the liatris plant so that it's a full plant section. I have some missing ones and don't know if I accidentally pulled them out (wouldn't think so since they were big) or they died on their own or what happened to them. Anyway, sorry to hear that your plants didn't all make it. I've ordered many things from PMN, mostly seeds, but I did order some bareroot plants and they got here in excellent condition. I highly recommend them for seeds, plants, and even tools. I ordered a tool from them called a Cobrahead weeder/cutivator and a sickle (they call it a seed harvesting hook) and I think that they are my favorite tools. They save me a lot of work. I don't think either that we talked before. I wish I had the time like I used to have, but it seems like the more I get into butterflies, and now moths too, I have little time to do anything else besides housework and TRYING to keep the outside looking decent.
