Rose seeds from China on Ebay !!!
Comments (6)What Jeri said, PLUS, order those seeds and the USDA will intercept them and send you a letter telling you not to do that again. To bring ANY kind of plant material into the US legally, you MUST have an import permit. I have just done this and it is a pain in the REAR. Import inspection fees are outrageous (upwards of $700 for them to walk your import through customs as is now required by law, if you don't live near an entry point where they will LET you do it, I don't) plus all of the B.S. fees which are now imposed to help fund the government. Those seeds are deliberate fraud. Those roses do not exist naturally, just as the blue, bright green and patchwork ones don't. Most come from China and they know they are fraud. They also know they are going to collect your money and your government won't let you receive them. They post that all import fees and restrictions are YOUR responsibility, so you have nothing to complain about them on EBay or to Paypal for. It isn't their fault if you don't read. You never get the seeds; you never raise them to determine you've been lied to and they did "warn you". They win, no matter what. Yes, it's only a "few bucks", but how many fools does it take at a few bucks each to have them raking it in? Don't even think about trying to sneak things in to avoid the hassle. The USDA IS levying fines of $30,000 to punish people and nurseries for not following the rules. If you go through the garbage to obtain the permit, expect to pay for a County Ag agent to visit you at least twice over the two year quarantine period, which WILL be a minimum of $80 a visit, more if you live more than the minimum from their office and if they spend more than half an hour at your location. Where in your yard can you grow the seed a minimum of 10' from anything in the Genus Rosa? It has become virtually impossible for most of us to import anymore. These seeds are theft. Be forewarned! Comments (9)Finally someone who knows morning glorys!! i took some seeds from my neighbors morning glorys that come up every year. i also buy plants from my local nursery that are annual here in my MN climate. today i finally planted 4 morning glory plants that i bought but could not plant because of the weather. i had them outdoors when the temps were 50 degrees or higher during the day and then brought them in. i planted 2 heavenly blue plants and 2 mixed colored plants and by 6pm tonight the heavenly blue plants were practically dead with the leaves 100% limp. the mixed colored plants are doing just fine so i am wondering why this is? also, the leaves on the HB and the mixed ones are different. in addition, the morning glorys that keep coming up (from my neighbor) have different leaves also!! i too am clipping this post. thanks for any info you can provide me with!!...See MoreDo you buy Garlic from China?
Comments (68)Well, it doesn't take quality, work ethics or skill to grow garlic, just a pot full of dirt or a piece of soil. Plant it in the fall, let it over-winter. By the next summer you'll have scapes to cut and by July (at least here in Michigan), you dig the stuff. Dry it and it'll store for months. It's by far the easiest, most reliable and least labor intensive stuff I've ever grown. Elery says we should grow a field full of it, if we only had a market for it! I also heard the same kind of "employee" argument from the vice-president of a power company here, they hired a bunch of people from India to run the computer systems because there was "no one qualified" here. Big headlines about how much better customer service would be with all the "improvements" to the computer system. Two years later the computer system was a complete mess, everyone was ticked off, people were getting exorbitant and incorrect bills, it cost $6.95 if you wanted to pay your bill on line (!!) the head of IT was fired and some computer experts from University of Michigan were hired. Six months later the computer system worked, the customers were calming down and getting their own bills, and it cost nothing to pay on line. It's a shame how those computer engineers were "unqualified", which actually meant they wanted more money than the foreign workers did. Annie...See MorePropagating Echeverias from Seeds
Comments (36)1. Sterilize substrate (3+ minutes in microwave or 50 mins in oven) 2. Planters should be about 1.5 inches deep. Fill a container with good draining soil. Good drainage is important, 50% regular potting soil with 50% coarse sand, perlite or pebbles (~0.15 inch) 3. Echeverias have tiny seeds which should not be covered with soil. They germinate best at 18-20 °C temperatures. 4. Equally Water the substrate with water - placie a piece of a napkin on top of the substrate and slowly pour the water over it. 5. Let the container soak up water for 5 minutes. Leave the container to drain out the water surplus. 6. Spread the seeds over the substrate, leave some space between them. 7. Put the whole container into a zip bag to keep humidity 8. Avoid exposing to direct sunlight, but provide them light on some bright place. 9. The germination process usually starts within 4 days – 2 weeks 10. Start opening the container gradually so that the seedlings can get used to the new air conditions. Seedlings need some moisture, substrate shouldn’t be dry, but don’t overwater. and they need an ample amount of light – but not direct sunlight 11. Repot them when you notice that seedlings are space-limited 12. Examine pots daily for fungus infection. Treat with fungicide if appears 13. Buy only fresh echeveria seeds, and only from reputable sources, like www.rareplant.me...See Morejohnsgeraniums
