How to sell a bottle of Dom Perignon 1985
Comments (2)First of all you should research to see if it is worth anything. Visit the GW thread below where a 1985 dom is discussed. Then check out places like http://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=14409 I do not quite understand the term "sell it for charity". You mean something like put it in eBay and sell it, giving the money to some charity? Are you talking about a 1985 Dom Perignon Etched Bottle Champagne worth thousands of dollars, or just a 1985 Dom Perignon like that you can get at any restaurant for a few hundred bucks? Do you know what you have? Has it been stored properly? Do you know it's full history? Would it not be better to have an auction with bidders? Or build an event around it. Sell tickets to the auction with dinner and dancing. Have give-a-ways or drawings of other nice wines to entice people to buy the tickets. Have other wines auctioned off. Advertise the event. If you already have a charity in mind to give the money to, they will have a marketing team in place to organize such an event. If you are planning on doing this on your own, you need to have permission to use the charity's name in association with the sale. If that sounds like too much work, find and ongoing event and offer to donate it for bidding. The bottle better be good or you may end up in small claims court. Comments (19)Regarding the Sawtooth oaks: About 10 years ago we had to travel to Virginia and on the way back we stopped at one of those rest areas on the highway in New Jersey and there was this giant, beautifully shaped Sawtooth oak, ( I didn't know what they were at the time) but there were hundreds of these gorgeous large acorns all over the ground. So like the plant person I am, I (my husband thought I was crazy), I picked up as many as I could throw in my purse and brought them home. I planted about 10 of them in styrofoam cups and had them in my windows and I gave another dozen or so away to a few interested people we knew. Unfortunately, at that time we had a few mice living in our house and during the night they were carefully digging up and eating all my acorns! It wasn't until several weeks later when one of the guys I gave some seeds to said that his had sprouted that I looked more closely into the cups and mine were all gone!! There is a lovely tree growing on Martha's Vineyard, complements of me and every time I see this fellow he remarks on how beautifully the tree is growing!! Just a silly story, I know......See MoreProspective home may have unpermitted addition. How to make it right
Comments (18)I'm a firm believer in the if it was meant to be. Many years ago when the ex and I were looking to move to a better school district, we found a beautiful small home on 1/3 of an acre. Loved the house, but after the house had been on the market for about the same amount of time as the one you just lost, we too lost out. Two weeks later we lucked into a beautiful 1898 victorian house we had driven by many times but felt we could never afford because it was on over 2/3 acre and a much larger house. However the seller had already gotten approval to divide the lot and they wanted to move to FL. The house was almost 1000 square feet larger, in a slightly better location and when divided, it too wound up with 1/3 of an acre. And we got it for the same price as the house we lost out on....See MoreTellerRed
