electrolux induction range- any self cleaning problems???
Comments (4)Yeah, run some external fans. Be sure to notice, first, how the air moves when the range is cooling itself in normal use. You want to augment that air movement, not fight it, so you are moving more air more quickly. Avidchef, you are very brave. Some of us are sitting around with dirty ovens because we are still afraid to clean them. It is wise to run the self-cleaning routine a few times before the warranty runs out....See MoreGas 30' range - Viking or Bluestar or DCS?
Comments (5)Given your choices I'd definitely go with the DCS - I've had the DCS range for 5 years and it's great. Burners are fantastic - great highs and extremely low simmers. Good convection oven and fantastic infrared broiler. Bluestar is a great product too - many, many happy users - but as you've pointed out, it has open burners. Now, open vs. sealed burners is a controversial issue. I LOVE sealed burners, particularly on the DCS, very easy to clean - but others will tell you that open burners are easier because you can take the pieces over to the sink to clean them and there are drip trays to catch things that fall through the burners - not for me. Personally, I'd stay away from Viking - there have been too many bad reviews regarding it's reliability although there are some happy owners on this forum....See MoreCleaning stainless steel Viking range
Comments (1)I'm not sure I understand your question. You say the finish is worn off. What exactly is worn? To clean mine I use standard grease cleaner. Any brand product should work fine. You can get a lot of brands of SS polish as well. If you have a GFS in your area they carry SS polish. If you have heavy grease areas you might need to use a fume free oven cleaner or some thing like bar keepers friend but I think you need to tell us what you are trying to clean. Backsplash? Burner bowls? Grates?...See MoreViking range gas hookup problem
Comments (9)This is where a crows-foot wrench is one possible solution. However, I strongly suggest that you have a tech from your gas provider do this. He will have a means of testing for leaks, be familiar with safety codes, and likely have a more optimal wrench for the task. And you won't have to worry about your insurance company declaring that any fire or explosion was your fault. As a wag on a code inspector forum once put it: "The purpose of code inspection is to reduce the income of lawyers." Gas company techs are responsible for meeting code. Lawyers will cost more than the tech. So, unless this stove is outdoors in a desert, please take the safe path and leave something as dangerous as a potential gas leak to those trained to deal with it. kas...See Moredockside_gw
