Jalapeno Pepper leaves turning yellow
Comments (2)Hi, welcome to the forum. Its hard to comment with any surety without more details. How are you watering, what kind of sunlight do they have, how big are they (have they visibly grown since you replanted)? Did your potting soil have fertilizer in it or have you fed them? Is the yellowing all over general yellowing or how would you describe it if different? Just with the info you provided, if the yellowing is general all over and complete, I would add that the older bottom leaves on plants that have been stressed early on sometimes yellow and fall off. This is no concern at all, but natural plant behavior. kendra...See MoreRed and Yellow Jalapenos
Comments (3)By far the best Jalapeno for the north is the Early Jalapeno. It turns red early. They are hot. A little smaller so they are able to turn red faster. They also have a heavy production on small plants. You can get the seeds at low cost from Fedco. 4000 seeds for about $5.50. a regular package is only 60 cents. they come from Jalapa in Mexico so they are real Mexican hot jalapeno. Try them you will like them. Here is a link that might be useful: 2008 catalog go to page 60...See MoreStrange problems with tomatoes (purple+curly+yellow spots)
Comments (6)For the first pic: well, it is warmer last 2 days and i still do not see that purple going away. It will be warm (+21-25C) for the next week, then they say it will be pretty cold june (18 max during day and 8-14 night). Sucks. Don't know what to do. Even though they are pretty low at the floor they actually get plenty of sun if weather is sunny. This is southern side so they get sun from early morning till evening. Sun is pretty high now even in the 10 am. I measured light and on sunny day they gen about 15K lumen at 10 am and still get around 10K at 9pm even with indirect light. Direct light is 60-100K for several hours a day. Weather is more trouble than low position. Rains, cloudy and cold. I even thought about adding some led light, but then measure them and see that they create around 5K. Even on very cloudy day they still get 5-6K from sky, so, artificial light is useless unless very powerful, but than it is a lot of electricity and $$$. Now i am thinking about adding some heating for period of cold june. $$$ too. For the second pic. No, i don not see any pests signs whatsoever. Everything is clean. I don't think it is aphids or spider mites because there were not spots a week ago and now they all have it. All plants all leaves. Unless a whole colony just landed on my balcony it seems to be unreal....See MoreYellowing on jalapeno leaves
Comments (5)Yeah, does seem a bit crowded for 5 plants. I wouldn't try more than 3 myself. Maybe 4 if it was deeper. I'm not completely familiar with SWC's. They seem(in theory) to be a great idea, but I'm not totally convinced. How do you flush out excess salts? And peppers, in particular, might have an issue with the constant moisture. Peppers like to dry out between waterings. So, if you can manage that with the SWC, then my feelings might change towards them being used with peppers. Using your finger can take out a lot of the guesswork--- stick finger a couple inches deep. If moist, don't water. As far as how your plants look...they look healthy so don't worry. Sure they're a tad yellow, but that dose of ferts should brighten them up--- takes time. You might want to switch to a CRF in conjunction with your liquid ferts. Are there micronutrients in that 15-30-15 stuff? A lot of the ferts will have them but a lot of them won't contain Ca and/or Mg( 2 very important micronutes). Kevin...See Morevieja_gw
