black leaf tips on mu plumeria
Comments (6)I snipped off a couple of leaves with the black tips and took them to the nursery where I bought the Plumeria. The owner and another grower both said it was Thrips. Their advice was to take off the bad leaves right away and to use an insecticidal soap to spray the leaves. I only had some Neem Oil + soap and water mixed up so I'm using that until I can go buy a commercial product. They also recommended that I amend the soil with organics and feed with about a cup of Nutricote every month. They said if the soil isn't optimum then I will have problems. I added some coffee grounds + egg shells until I can get something better....See MoreCuttings Changing Color
Comments (3)Adolfo, Nothing is impossible with plumeria! They will keep you guessing because you never know what they will do next. Yes, I have heard of this happening. Generally it is the seedlings that can change for the first 3 bloom cycles, but I have heard of cuttings doing the same. Weather plays a part also. In more humid environments the colors will be more beautiful and vivid. It's more common for flower size to get bigger with age and scent to become stronger, but as I said, not impossible to change colors. If you happen to have a before and after photo, we would love to see it. As far as roots intertwining and mixing, I'm not sure if that's possible as the genetic code is already stored in the plants tissue, but it's an interesting thought. I have several plumeria planted very close together and so far each has it's own flower. Congrats on your special tree, Tony...See MorePlumeria trunk color...
Comments (7)I've received cutting with the white lichen but never the black one. It still looks wicked to me. LOL... It won't grow where I am (too dry) but if the environment is right they will thrive. It doesn't hurt the plumeria. You can use a light bleach solution and scrub it some but not all of it will come off unless u really scrub it. Janet...See MoreHelp! Does my plumeria have black tip?
Comments (2)It's definitely tip damage. Either way you will need to monitor how far the damage is and if the damage area spreads then remove down to clean wood. Hopefully the plant will wall it off itself and start to push out new branches at the leaf nodes....See Morekasiec
