What is this white web-like stuff in my aquarium?
Comments (22)Also, snails are not necessarily pests. If you crush them up, you fish will love to eat the fresh meat they provide. A fish tank, regardless of what is in it, should never be in sunlight as the refraction of the glass or plastic hightens the rats of the sun to an unhealthy nature. A tank is not a pond or natural body of water. Light through plastic or glass creates an unatural energy source with odd results. A Betta is very comfortable on a shelf or quiet place with minimal light. Also,. When you clean the tank, every once in awhile (like bi monthly) put the Betta in a cup or bowl of the tank water (roughly 40 to 60% of the original amount) stir up the gravel a bit to release the bacteria that's building up down there with your hand. Usually a cloud of brown will be seen. Empty out that water about half of that water but not all (remember, bacteria is not as completely a bad thing). Then fiill the tank back up with fresh water and pour the fish back in with the original water it was in... Fish love fresh water, but they need some bacteria in their tank to be healthy. Also, and this is important, temperature is important as you don't want the fish to go into shock from a sudden temperature change. Think about your own body when you do this. If you are in a room that is comfortable temperaturewise, then you enter a freezing or hot room, your body reacts. Use your sense of touch when gauging whether the tap water is close in temperature to the original. If needed you can use a thermometer but I have never found that necessary. It sounds more complicated than it actually is. Just think of your fish as a living being that needs the same things you do....See MoreHelp! Leaves growing out distorted w/white foamy stuff on back
Comments (6)Judy, the foam protects them from any chemical you might use. If your hydrangea is the size you describe, you can spray away the foam with water, or take a paper towel, wipe them off and squash. You're going to find a little green to yellow-green soft nymph inside the foam. The nymph is sucking sap, causing the distortion. And when you're done with your hydrangea, you can come and do my lavender - they are covered this year, along with the hardy fuchsias :)...See MoreA serious delicate situation rather gross
Comments (27)Thanks you guys for the suggestions. After grossness the laughter is good and makes the uncomfortable a little easier to deal with. Grandson suggested (besides the large can of disinfectant spray he got me for Grandparents Day) I get another desk size box of tissues and put a sticky note on it that says "Do you know how to make a tissue dance?".................... .. then on a second sticky note write .. ..............."Put a little boogie in it!...........Yours please!" He said he'd even print it out for me so no one would know where it came from. LOL What a kid, always willing to help gramma. I do know the other cubicles facing the same way can see the picking and flicking because they have mentioned how gross the new person is. I kept my mouth shut hoping another would say something to the new person or the supervisor. Anon note hopefully worked and I won't have to deal with the situation. This really was the bad point of my whole vacation. If worse comes to worse and the flicking continues I guess I'll be the person to talk to the flicker and hope it is taken well with a nice box of soft touch tissue. If it continues after that I have a video camera and good options 1. Take pic print it off and put it on pick-n-flicks desk. If the flicking continues 2. Take proof to HR and/or the VP. This must be a man thing DH and DGS both said "Boogers never go away, they just dry up and get hard." eeewwwee but yes I have purple gloves and scraper if they want samples to go with pic. 3. Grandson knows how to post to U-tube. 4. Close circuit it to the big TVs in the break area. LIL...See MoreCherry tree has yellow leaves. Help!
Comments (2)transplant shock .. poor media for a tree ... and over watering ... it would have been better if you had potted it up.. BEFORE it leafed out ... then the leaves wouldnt have looked like this.. since they wouldnt have been there ... it is also best to put a new transplant in full shade until the roots start working ... i would not water it again ... until your finger.. inserted 3 inches.. indicates the media is drying ... if i were to have done this.. i would have used up to half wood chips in that media you used ... trees like a sip of water.. then near total draining.. and near drying before another sip ... your muck will keep it too wet in the long run .. unless you are very keen on making sure it doesnt stay sopping wet ... the problem with that all-purpose stuff.. is that annuals and perennials... like very spongy wet media ... and i am sure that stuff is great for that ... but not for trees .. good luck ken...See Moresherryd0049
