At what point do you let them go???
Comments (9)Karen, I'll share our unusually warm and sunny days with you if you share your rain. We'll go half and half and that should do it for both of us. :O) Paula, After wsing for a few years I still feel the same way you do. I've never gotten over putting those seedlings out when they are so tiny. Also, by the time they could be planted out in such a small state, the slugs are out in full force and well, you know what happens... The other issue is spotting where I've planted them. They get lost in the chaos of the gardens. One thing I am doing this year is placing collars made from yogurt and icecream containers and pop bottles too. If the collars are placed deep enough, the cutworms won't get the seedlings, and if it's high enough, it discourages the slugs. After they start growing, I'll be removing them gently so as not to disturb the plants....See MoreLet's do our share to save the bees!

Comments (6)No one is living there, right? Find the water line shut off for each toilet, by the tank. Turn off the water. Flush the toilet so it's empty tank and bowl. Remove the nuts on the bolts that hold the fixture to the floor. Lift the toilet up (may need to gently jiggle some to loosen it from the seal to the drain pipe) and move it outside. Stare at it for a while so you can see just how easy it will be to put the new one down. Have a big screw driver and putty knife. Ppoke to be sure nothing feels rotten in the subfloor. Scrape off the old adhesive/wax ring around the pipe. Don't worry, it's just deteriorated crud. Measure from the back was to the center of the flush pipe. (Ppl who know what they are doing can do this before any removal.) Write down that measurement and go to Lowe's and buy an all-in-one to fit. It'll tell you on the box. You get bolts, wax ring, toilet seat, flusher-stuff that does into the take, You might have to get that stainless steel flex hose to attach to tank -> water supply. If you need to replace the floor bolts, you may need to cut a couple of inched off too so you need a hacksaw. Place the bowl and give it some good rocking to be sure it seats on the wax ring. Put the rest of the stuff together (there are instructions). Turn the water on and flush! Caulk. Takes less time than for me to type this. BTW, if it's a small BR get a round bowl. Amazing how much less space it takes up. And consider "comfort height". That's becoming the new standard height again. You may find this task so satisfying to accomplish (really unbelievably easy!) that you'll do it every other year, just for fun!...See MoreLet me see your charging stations!
Comments (23)*sigh* I must be sooooo behind the times. Charging stations....I've heard about and seen them and in theory, this would be a perfect solution to all of our sketti wire messes all over the house. The charging pad? WOW....never even knew that existed until now. What a neat concept. Again, in theory this would be perfect. No landline here so everyone has their cell phones, Ipod thingys, earbuds, etc everywhere....wherever there is an outlet that is convenient/within reach, you can almost expect something is charging from it. I didn't want mine wrapped up in everyone elses mess so in my bedroom....where it's the most convenient of all places to charge my cell because I need it "on" and need to be able to hear it in that end of the house even while charging, I came up with a somewhat neat plan to disguise the cell and cord while charging. Actually, I'm sure the plan is everywhere, it's just that I hadn't seen it yet. Yardsale: purchased a sweet, medium-sized oval Shaker Hat Box for a buck. In the back of the box, using a very sharp utility knife, I cut a small square out of the -I think it's like- Balsa Wood. Ran the little plug that goes to my cell through the hole. Plugged my cell in, put cell in box, lid on top. Hat box is on my nightstand. Cord/plug runs out of the back of the box and down my nightstand between bed and nightstand, and into an outlet. You'd never know there was a cell phone charging in that Hat Box. It's much neater looking and less chance of my phone getting tangled up with everyone elses electronics that need charging, in the house. Did the same for Mr. Amity's phone since his whole life seems to be on his nightstand (keys to auto, keys to the shop, keys to storage, nitrate bottle, change, money clip, wallet, glasses, a red tiny chunk of stone kids gave him while in hospital)...it was the most logical place to put it. I had wanted so badly to be 'organized' when we first got the kitchen in a working mode. I set up a surge protector inside a decorative 'empty' book and tried this for 3 weeks....I ended up doing more nagging than anything else. Wasn't worth it as everyone wanted their cells in their bedroom at all times. But the rest of their electronics, they plug in wherever there is an empty plug. *sigh* The Cleavers, The Nelsons, we're not. LOL...See MoreRon_and_Patty
