Where + how to plant? Brugs, Datura, Nicandra, 4 OClocks?
Comments (21)Just wanted to update and ask a few more questions. I was finally able to get the Brugsmania and the Datura into containers. I did put them in their own large containers. They look so forlorn though, with one plant in the middle of an otherwise empty pot. Isn't there something I can grow in the pot with them that will add some interest while they are gaining size and to hide any possible bare knees later? I also direct sowed into containers, four oclocks, that don't seem to be germinating. I did see two small seedlings in one pot that look very different from each other, so maybe one of those is a four oclock, but I put at least 20 seed in the pot and I would have expected germination by now, with all the rain we have had. It has been over two weeks. The Nicancra...no one really responded to the question about growing that. I guess no one else has grown it. I have a seedling that does have some variegation on it but it is so tiny. I just don't know what to do with that. If I should just put it in a container with a lot of more advanced annual seedlings or not. Anyone have experience with Nicandra? Thanks :-)...See MoreWhere can I buy Chandler Strawberry plants for fall planting?

Comments (2)Hi Sillybugs. I also live in Fort Lauderdale and have almost my entire life. I usually buy tomatoes and other veggies from the big box stores but have noticed the plants don't look very nice yet. I'm hoping they'll have a healthier assortment in a week or so. Used to go to a nursery called Nu-Turf to get tomatoes but now I think they mainly sell sod. Also, used to be a really nice nursery at Five Points. Are you familiar with this intersection? I was so disappointed when they tore it down and put up a well-known drug store several years ago. You can also start your veggies from seed as I do with spinach and lettuce. Tomatoes take a while to grow and mature from seed and are fine if you are willing to wait longer. I hear Ricky's Swap has plants and I think people bring them to 'swap' as the name implies. I haven't been to his swap yet, but hope to go on the 19th. Hope this helps. Sheri :)...See MoreWhere can I buy a small bit of King of Prussia marble?
Comments (13)You seldom find it in Ohio - the production was small and it was mostly used on the east coast before the 1850s. If you can find it in an architectural salvage yard, expect to pay a high price for it, because it's an antique stone from a long-dead quarry. This is one place that sells old mantels who might have sources: Samuel B. Sadtler Antique Marble Mantels 340 S.
