The USDA list a 16 feet tall Okra in their gerplasm database http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/acc/display.pl?1220193 I've grown cowhorn okra, and I had no problem germinating seeds. This variety I had a hard time germinating. First attempt all the seeds rotted just soaking in water. Second attempt I used hydrogen peroxide and I was able to get half of them to germinate. Many of the seedlings died during the first week. I planted 4 of them outside and they grew to about 1 to 2 feet and all of them died.

They are shorter. The 1st one that I cut off, I just knew it was bad because it was so big. Not so. Cut like butter. A good test for your first one is to cut just under the cap. If it cuts smoothly, you know it's ready. If you hear it crunch, then you waited too long. It's going to be a trial and error thing for harvesting the first few. Good luck!
