Information on Craftsman Chainsaw 358.354830
Comments (35)My two Old Poulan/Craftsman started and ran as I expected. With my arms vs My Son-In-Law’s (w/o going to ER Yet) LOL! The .MPG files of the saws running w/n attach. 1. I ran both 5-10 Min with fresh Stabil treated fuel. Normally, I “would have” left some of the treated fuel in the saws for a year as in the past. The old fuel looked so bad that I felt it might be better to Run Them Bone Dry. *** Opinions! Bad IMO from evaporating (if fuel will) since it looked more like oil than fuel. 2. ** I saw a Craftsman attachment related to Electric Starting past pull start Engines. I’ll have to go back to see if it was related to Old Equipment or will adapt. I feel it was and I’ll try to attach it to get some opinions X Safety and Realistic. I feel it was to prevent Kickbacks. If I would try one, it would be w/o the bar and chain to prime up a saw that had been sitting a year as these. Plus, I have a complete retired engine as the green one + spare parts. Comments (31)Richard , It,s been a while since my last post on this thread (Ewalk) As for Poulans they are light weight saw unit . If you maintain them religiously you will receive adequate service . If not then they will give you headaches lol. They are designed for light cutting requirements. !st you must ensure clean fresh fuel with adequate fuel conditioner due to ethanol fouling issues. You have not indicated how often you cut or how old your saw is . They primary failing of the previous saws complaints within this thread are in my opinion weak ignition modules causing irratic spark . Other than that compression or lack there of will cause hard starting and loss of power during prolonged cutting. I would start with cleaning your carb since fuel starvation is a basic cause . Also ensure you have adequate blue spark prior to cleaning carb . You must service your air filter and fuel filter seasonally or as required dependant on the hours of use . To summerize , check fuel , plug , filters , compression and clean carb . If unit does not start get back to us ...Chow !... aka formerly Ewalk...See MoreStihl Chainsaw - starts but won't run
Comments (78)My 1997 Stihl TS 510 Brazilian made cut off saw (same metal base as a chainsaw, carb's a Tillotson) ran well for 10 minutes, then lost power if under load, but would spin up if not under load and sound ok, but bog down again if loaded. So, I replaced the ignition coil with Stihl part and it coughed once after a couple pulls but didn't start, then I have a very short shot of ether, ran for .5 second, then, no more signs of starting. Pulled carb, looked at hoses, cleaned carb with brake cleaner, diaphragms look good, it ran a second on first pull, then no coughs, nothing. The upper seal on the carb, just below air filter is not completely torn, but is thin and tattered. There is a very small gas leak, a few drips around the hose attachment onto the big rubber fitting that pushes with some effort into the metal hole the hoses run through to the gas tank. IDK if the Tillotson is original, or the last guy had problems? I took the hoses off, blew through them, no visible issues. I think it's a fuel issue. What's my next move?...See MoreThe M*U*L*C*H fairy is coming
Comments (9)Carol! Are you in Ohio? You may have to put a virtual tour of your garden on line so we can all visit! Chaps are those partial pair of pants that cowboys wear over their jeans. They look just like two pants legs, and are very thick. They have belts that hold them on, adjustable fit. I looked on eBay and got an un-used pair of horseriding chaps made for big kids, size 16--but I'm 7 short, so they should work. They make special chaps in big sizes for men, but they are synthetic and bright orange--only a big guy could get away with wearing road hazard orange. Not this short girl! You're really encouraging me about the saw, but I definitely think you should take Pyr's advice and get something like leather chaps or even something like suede jeans. I have a pair of suede jeans somewhere in my closet (hoping to lose enough weight to wear those again--yep, that will happen!) Suede jeans can be found in consignment shops, that kind of place--usually still new. I don't have any sprouts yet, but I am not so depressed about it today. It rained a lot yesterday and the jugs all look cool and moist. 36, as of today--you are way past me now! I am attempting to grow shrubs and vines from seeds: huckleberry mountain laurel pink honeysuckle You can DEFINITELY grow trees from seeds. In the spring, look under red maple trees and you will find baby trees! You can easily bring these babies home too, before they are buried under mulch by a well-meaning landscaper. I now have a red maple tree for free, when they usually cost at least $150. Trees can take much longer to grow from seed, but you will love them all the more because you raised them yourself. My father always planted trees from seeds, and if you saw them now you would be astounded at how magnificent they are. They look like something from an English castle grounds. The key with growing trees from seeds is patience. They can take a while to germinated. That's why it can be helpful to look for baby trees (just a few inches tall) in the spring, under the trees you like. Often nature already has these babies ready to find a permanent home!...See MoreHU-996680441
