My HR214SX was purchased new in 1983 for $385-- a lot of money for a walk-behind lawnmower at that time. It has been a loyal yard servant ever since. My secret(?) to keeping the engine a "first-pull every Spring" starter, is to make sure you turn off the fuel petcock after every mowing, and let the engine die on its own. This, as well as draining the tank at the end of the season, keeps the carb clean with no varnish buildup. I always use fresh gas every season, and never fill up the gas can with more than a gallon at a time. Fuel varnish is a killer to carbs. I'm now looking at the HRX217HXA to replace my reliable steed because I do more mulching than bagging. A review from some customer would be helpful.
