Questions about leaving plants alone (temp and water)
Comments (4)Being a gardener and getting away for a few days is mutually exclusive unfortunately. Your best bet is to buy a timer that you can attach to the faucet. You leave the faucet turned on, set the timer for how often and how long to go off and you're good. A soaker or small sprinkler works well. Depends if all your plants are clustered close together. If they are spread around so one hose/sprinkler won't do the job, then you'll need a Y connector coming off the timer to as many hoses/sprinklers you need to keep everything watered while you're away. This is the only system I have found that works well. We like to head up north to cooler temps in summer and getting the neighbor to water for me (in exchange for my feeding their dogs when they are gone) did not work out very well...........she's a blonde, what can I say? kidding peeps, just kidding....See Morewhy won't my dew covered cp's eat?!?!
Comments (18)Its the sun dews they won't bend over the bugs, they won't move... its deff dew its sticky the bugs have a hard time getting away.. but they just drag there bodies down the tentacles. They are obviously eating them whether they wrap around or not, but they DON'T trap the bug and it eventually get away. My plants are outside on a Sun porch that gets full Sun all on cloudyover cast dadays i put the cf day light bulb or the indeincandescent lighting system on them. I'll post pictures to try and show YOU what i mean...See MoreWhat has congregated on the underside of my sunflower leaves?
Comments (4)IF they are one of the zillion species of plant or leaf hopper, then the ants are after their sugary excretions. These insects are sap-feeders, taking large volumes of the stuff into their bug-bodies at one end, and recycling it out the other end! Since photosynthates are loaded with carbs (sugars), the excrement is sweet. Viola....ANTS! You might want to check out lacebugs, as well. They can be a real pest of sunflowers. Comments (4)The situation may be too tense at this point, but could you ask the neighbor to call you with the plan to let them come inside your unit during a "stomping episode" to prove to them that sound travels and it's not coming from your unit? Ideally one of them could come upstairs and another could wait from within the unit. Or perhaps management could send one person to each unit and see how loud it really is (are expectations unreasonable?) and upstairs you will have a witness that normal movements are happening upstairs regardless of what they hear. If you have any travel plans, could you use this to your advantage to establish it as a fact that they are hearing noise from another unit? It's obvious they don't believe this. Anything for them to stop calling the police, because that is clearly not solving anything and is wasting city resources... what an awful wake-up call for you....See Moretn_veggie_gardner
