I don't see why you can't do the paint color you love, and then find some pillow fabric for decorative pillows and perhaps a valance above the lace curtains that has both the purples in it. This time of year there are lots of fabrics that feature various florals that will have red and blue based purples in the same fabric. In fact, if you look at the lampshade you showed in the one pix, it appears to have both families of purple in it. Of course, not having seen the actual paint color, only you know if you could live with the combo. What I don't think I would like is the yellow ceiling. Seems too "easter egg colors' to me. Would you consider a pale blue or green instead? Maybe something pulled from that coordinating fabric? Or, since the room doesn't get much light, maybe you should think about doing the walls in the pale yellow instead? It might be a better, cheerier feel for the room.

Sometimes you can find damaged paneling or sheets usually for bathrooms & get good prices. When you shelve, you hide flaws. Depending upon heating & cooling, fabric may not be a good choice. It may absorb moisture that will in turn mold or mildew depending upon humidity. My sewing is in the basement & it doesn't bother me. I do use a dehumidifer. I have lots of pot lights & use florescent bulbs in the summer to keep it from heating up too much. Sometimes I switch back to reg bulbs in the winter. I have Ott lights at each sewing station too. Floors were hardwood already. Pins get caught in cracks. I got a magnet but some pins can't be picked up. I don't like carpet because of pins & fabric scraps. My last one had vinyl flooring & I liked it. My upper walls were already a light wall paper & the bottom is dark. That has worked ok. I go with the suggestion for using some peg board. Again, ask if they have any damaged pieces at reduced prices. If humidity is not a problem & you go with fabric, I would first seam the panels to eliminate waste as you go along stapleing it up. If you would get piece of plastic water pipe & roll it up on it, you can handle it better & another person can pull it taut as one staples. Good luck & let us know how you decide to finish it up.

She is good at 'helping' you find fabric to buy. :-) Theresa, Enjoy having your family with you and the birthday celebration. We all know family comes before sewing. I'll probably be sewing......catching up on this and that BOM and working on the Zelda Candle. I have a couple quilt tops needing borders, so will see about those and maybe get a small one sandwiched. DD and her DH are off to Bike week in Daytona on their new motorcycles, so we won't be doing anything with them. Guess it's just me, the machine and college basketball for tomorrow. Ok, maybe I'll sweep off the front porch, too. :-)

Thanks, everyone!! You guys are thinking along the same lines as I am. I have thought about the shades (of any variety, and making them), but wondered about the width of the windows?? I may wait until we move in to decide for sure?? The windows are facing more north/east and won't get a lot of hot sun and I won't need too much for privacy (yet). I don't like looking at the "black holes" that night time windows create. I really like the roman shade or top down, bottom up shade idea for the living room/dining room. I may do some sheers for the wedding and then use them elsewhere? They aren't very expensive, so I haven't lost much if I don't like them. We plan on using the sewing room as the "dance floor" for the wedding, so some window treatment would be nice for that (it's an evening wedding, so maybe a wall of lights, too??)
