Please help with kichen light remodel 8 foot ceiling
Comments (4)I think you have a workable plan. I'd put one of whatever is over the sink area, or a complementary one from the same product line, over the 3 ft. area. Recessed cans are bleh. I'm trying to avoid them myself in my project and meeting with great resistance. :) I used UNrecessed cans in my last remodel (from Rejuvenation's MCM collection) over the sink and a bit of no-uppers, but I was trying to fit it in with a retro house. (I do like Rejuvenation for mixing and matching lighting though--you can do a flush mount over the sink and have a matching pendant over the counter for example.)...See More8 foot ceiling Kitchen
Comments (14)Some cabinet lines will offer a door that has just a pane of glass at the top like NH baskets shows in her picture - that will give you the look of stacked cabinets. Also a 42" high cabinet is too tall for an 8ft ceiling. it needs to hang at 96" in order to keep an 18" high backsplash. If you have a true 96" height from FINISHED floor to ceiling, you could get 39" high cabinets and a smaller crown in there. Good luck!...See MoreIf I am redoing a kitchen with 8 foot ceilings, what size pendants?
Comments (14)LARA, It's the same math: If you have 99 ( 8 feet is btw 96" , not 99 ) " and you have a light that IN TOTAL mount and fixture uses up 26 inches, you will have 37 inches from the bottom of the light to the counter top. If you have 96 inches...now you have 34 inches to counter top. If you want to know how it will look, on any you select? You get yourself a ruler, and you draw it out, using one inch, to one foot scale. Chain is easier than stem......so you really need to pay attention to specs, and mounting details. The length of your island must also be VERY much considered. Any solid shade will read heavier and larger than an open lantern or glass shade. Solid shades will direct light to the counter top, and more open or clear fixtures will give you more dispersed light....See MorePHOTO REQUEST: Stacked Kitchen Cabinets with 8-Foot Ceiling
Comments (12)You can’t do stacked cabinets with 8’ ceiling. It looks weird—squat cabinet on top of squat cabinet not a good look at all. Your ceiling will also appear lower with two rows of horizontal squat cabinets. It will also cut back significantly on useable cabinet storage space, and costs a boatload of money to look bad. The photos you linked of “the look you are going for” is of a kitchen with 10’ ceilings. If you are taking cabinets to meet your 8’ ceiling, I recommend 39” tall uppers and 3“ crown. The taller cabinets will give the illusion your ceiling is higher, and you’ll have good storage too. The upper cabinets that are next to the fridge can be glass-door cabinets if you want to store glassware and pretty china there....See Morebyst
