Off topic question for Lloyd aka pt03
Comments (12)FBG...more intrigue, can you give me Readers Digest version of what you have planned? I have been doing searches for small town organics collection just to see how others are doing it. Both from a collection point of view and the composting process (in-vessel, windrow, bunker, ???) Lloyd Well my friend, (if I may be so bold) I visited Portland, Oregon in October to see the newest grandson. Portland has a trash/recyling/composting program that is very close to world class. The company I work for is a participant in this public/private partnership. I'm reading and modifying contracts and such to suit the locale. Having been formally in sales, I intend to pitch this idea to county, municipality, and the company I work for. The absolute worst that can be said is no. I have presented outlines of plans already that would start a composting site of the magnitude I think needed, and have requested a capital investment of $10 million dollars for land aquisition, buildings, equipment purchase, and the first years labor costs. This would be thermophilic composting in windrows with forced air to increase the oxygen levels deep in the windrows. I have also been reading about remediation of contaminated soils using similar methods. There seem to be many branches of this tree that can be applied commercially, if only I can get corporate backing. I've been told I'm being very bold for an employee with less than 1 years tenure. I am also preparing a proposal to use the methane gas produced by our local landfill(s) to produce electricity to power our local offices. Currently, it is just burned off. I was told at orientation to think green. 'They' may come to regret that. I wish to thank the others that have 'butted in'. please continue to do so....See MoreWhere to find images/inspiration photos (off-topic)
Comments (4)I assume you've done the obvious google image search? I only post that because you didn't mention it. They've improved it to be able to refine search results. Here is a link that might be useful: google image search for reading nook...See MoreOff topic question about gift etiquette
Comments (9)so she expected you to store the shoes until & unless she called for them? How much was she paying you for storage? People are downright odd... my aunt gave me a sewing machine. she's 88 years old & she has a much newer model (this machine was one of the old heavy black metal Singers that sits in a cabinet). I couldn't get it to work right, but I figured I'd tinker with it when I had time. then my aunt called me & said, "sylvia, I want my sewing machine back." well... what're you gonna do? so I took it back. & she said that that wasn't her machine, & she wanted me to go get *her* machine. She refused to acknowledge that that was her sewing machine & that it didn't work right when she gave it to me! She told me she knew it wasn't hers because she had put a mark on hers (right, I always mark my heavy appliances & furniture, too), *& that this machine didn't work right*, & hers did. Now she's told her kids that I took her sewing machine & brought her this other one that doesn't work well. so everybody's mad at me. I should have told them the machine was broken & I'd put it in the trash. & my ex "gave" me a set of homemade stereo speakers & a big ugly waterbed that I couldn't stand (but he balanced the account by stealing several things). I traded the waterbed to the 15-year-old boy next door for yardwork. Then the ex showed up one afternoon & told me he'd come by "to pick up my speakers & the waterbed". & he was *offended* that I'd gotten rid of the waterbed! I let him take the speakers. What was the question? Take him a token sackful of baby clothes, whatever you can put your hands on fairly easily, & tell him these are the only ones you can find, if there were others, they must have been in a bunch you already gave to someone who needed them....See MoreOff topic, but need advice quickly
Comments (19)I have a Kenmore Elite French door as well and it's by far my favorite of all the models I've owned. LG makes it for Sears and I have the water dispenser in the door (hubby's desire) and the ice in the bottom freezer. It also has the grey sides so that if it's not built in, is less obvious. We love ours for the satin finish that it has. Unlike stainless, there are no fingerprints to contend with! But it looks just like stainless and sits beside the stainless wall ovens and you don't notice any difference in materials. I love the adjustable, pull-out shelves because even though I'm 5'2" I can still reach things in the back on the shelves. Both crispers have tilt-out front sections for delicate fruits or vegetables and individual humidity controls. The bottom freezer door also tilts out as well as pulls. It's very convenient for grabbing smaller items on the inside door rack. Two separate freezer bins as well as a top pull out rack make finding things easy. The bottom freezer has a bottom tray instead of a rack and I like this for preventing ice cubes, etc from falling underneath and onto the floor. The only drawback I've read was that the ice maker bin sometimes dumps ice when the top drawer is pulled out. I avoided this problem by doing what some others recommended-turn off the icemaker when it's full. :-) Sears is having a sale right now if you have a card. We bought ours through the PX and avoided the sales tax. Also, one last thing. The water filter is in a VERY convenient place for changing! That's important to me. Hope this helps.
