Help decorating and furnishing my blush pink feminine bedroom.

My bedroom is a clean slate. 1st pic is my headboard. 2nd pic - that’s how high the headboard will be. 3rd pic is my inspo pic. 4th pic is the entire room.

Question: Do I paint blush pink? Keep it white? Another color but please, nothing gray and no Sputnik lighting. ;)

And what to do about window treatment?

Lighting?

It’s just me so I would like, grown woman’s feminine and comfy. Your brilliant insights are much appreciated!

Our bedroom has a pink coverlet and white pillows with pink trim, with white plaster walls. With your headboard, this look -it's a NY hotel room - might be a start, so the pink contrasts with the taupe, warm tones that are already in your headboard.

Taupe and pink are lovely together.

I'd let your headboard be the star and would not be looking for a frilly, gleamy light to compete with it.I like your current fixture much better than the fussy lights you show, but if you want a change, I'd keep to a simple dome or ball.

I like all the light fixtures other than the small one you say you would need two of. Even with two. Do you think you would need two of the drum? With the length of your table, the rectangular ones might be nice and you definitely need only one. If it were my room, I would go with the first or last one of those. They have the softer glam of the inspiration room. The second one would take it more into a crisp or edgy style -- and that's okay, but it's not the direction you seem to be leaning with the rug and pillows. See if you can read reviews on those two and even look for photos of them lit. Differences in dust clinging or being too shadowy might favor one over the other. The coffee table would definitely work in your LR -- and didn't you say you wanted a shelf? This one has two. The round one you like has no shelf, and the ones that are plain circles that do have shelves don't hold up to your style. They are fine, but in your room I think they would be boring. The table needs something to give it enough personality to hold up in that room. It doesn't need to be bold or take center stage, but it needs to stand up on its own. I like the fact that this one has rounded corners -- easier on little ones who tend to bump them when they are learning to walk and run, playing, etc. Compare the sizes. The round can help open up a tight space, but the one I found was the smaller one. Is it too small for your room? Do you plan to have any kind of table between the chairs? If not, I think you need a larger rectangle for the coffee table so that a person sitting in one of the chairs has a place to set down a drink, a phone -- whatever. Which leads me to the idea that you might use a rectangle for your coffee table and a round one between the two chairs. Gotta run for a bit.... will check back later.

DkHaas--I REALLY like those blue ombre curtains! Much softer but same idea as the bold navy/white stripe. And of course, mdln, I am not going to go out and buy what I want without consulting her! I probably won't show her this whole thread, mostly because I can't buy/replicate every thing that is on it, but I will DEFINITELY show her some of the ideas/color combos that have been presented! She has already seen some of the ideas--some of which she said, "NO WAY" to and some she was more into. She's pretty head strong--she knows what she likes and dislikes. lol We are both putting this room together, but I am the one paying for it, and with that comes "some say" within reason. :) HavingFun, you are right--I would not have thought to look on Amazon unless I knew something specific I wanted. I am glad to hear you say that the quality is not bad--that is something I would have been worried about.

I would need to see a better close up of the rug that is staying, but to give you an idea of updates that would help. Paint in the lighter blue color, or the ivory, cabinets, walls and ceiling. You can leave the center ones darker, and if that blue matches the one in the rug, then that works. For the backs of the cabinets, put a nice ivory/light blue damask wallpaper that matches the cabinet paint color and ivory in the room and rugs. Replace the mirror with one like pictured below. Update all the pulls with crystal ones like pictured here. Update the lamp to a crystal one, and replace the fan with a crystal chandlier. Well obviously I love pink in all kinds of applications! My husband rigidly adheres to the notion that pink is not for boys in any way shape or form. His clothing is all shades of black, grey, white, brown khaki and beige and if he wants to really cut a rug--burgundy! He leans that way in decorating too, which is so not me. I am loving this thread!! I find pink, in the right combinations, a very soothing color. Pink and green reads fresh, pink with neutral natural tones is very bunny nest soothing, IMHO. Pink and blue, not so much, that's kid's nursery. I made a big mistake thinking that I could "tone down" a pink walled room with blue accents. They both stand out garishly when you do that . . . toning down means using shades much closer on the color wheel. I found that whole mauve, teal and grape color scheme did not wear well, although I like all the colors individually. It was too much contrast for my aesthetic. My last house had teal trim and carpet in the master bedroom, with a mauve and grape flower border wallpaper over white walls. I nicknamed the room "the aquarium." I would have repainted the trim but it was extensive, including a bay window with seat and trim below, all in teal. My bedding in there was mostly pink. It looked OK. Now I have cornflower blue carpet in most of my rooms and that does not play nice with pink IMHO unless you are doing a baby shower . . . Edited to add that the pink color in the room I needed to tone down was BM "Old Country" which is supposed to be a warm peachy pink but read "pepto bismol" in the room I used it in. Since my dad painted the room, I had to keep the wall color but managed to tone it down with browns, burgundys, camel, gold, beige, terra cotta, etc.

Idk, but pink is my favorite color, so I want to see what you do and I hope you keep us updated.

Besides pink, my fave is cream. So maybe a muted cream instead of the stark white that was so popular with the gray trend. (Or a creamy white).

Here's a photo:

The glow makes the walls look pinkish on my screen, but I bet they're cream color. To me, lends a bit of sophistication.

What do you plan to use for nightstands.??

The paint color for the walls is the last item selected.

Select the rug & linens first, then select the paint to coordinate with those two items.

I'd paint a cream with red undertone so it gives off a blush feel. I think it will be more sophisticated than an actual blush or pink paint color.

Your bed is pointed, your celing is pointed, your light fixture is pointed. I'd rather see a different, rounder shape to break things up. Your inspiration pic is over the top in a wonderful way. Don't know if you want to go over the top as well, but if you do...

Can you post pics of your windows so we can say more about window treatments?

Once the bed and linens are installed it doesn't leave much room for anything else.

Do you need to paint the room? Once you add the linens and drapery panels, that adds quite a bit of color to the room.
