Help Me Pick a Healthy Rose: Which one is better???
Comments (17)Thank you everyone for your great insight. I'm still fairly new to gardening, but I'm learning so much from all you you and the GardenWeb community. Yes, I am pretty set on having a White Edens in my garden... although I may live to regret it based on Hoovb's experience. Hoovb: I'm hoping and praying my Edens won't suffer the same fate as yours did. So far they're done pretty well, although I've only had it since September. This morning, I went out and counted 20+ large buds on the Eden I planted in September... I would have had more, had I not dug it up and transplanted it with too small of a root ball earlier this spring. Kippy-the-Hippy: I'm thinking about planting it along with a White Climbing Iceberg rose together in the front of my house, trained up and over the garage. Have any of you grown two climbing roses together? I heard of people growing fruit trees in the same hole, I wonder if I could do the same with two climbing roses? I will look into the Somebreuil rose. I'm intrigued. I've never been to Descanso Gardens, is that off PCH? I think I've heard of it. Maybe I will have to grow a Sombrieuil with an Eden in my backyard....See MoreLooking ahead to next summer: help me pick two new roses?
Comments (16)"Hardy, nearly constantly blooming all summer, disease resistant and very, very fragrant." If you find such a rose please let me know. I have several rugosas and they do not bloom constantly - mostly a spring flush with a few blooms after that, and the blooms get past their freshness date very quickly. I also have Bucks, Austins and Romanticas. Most Bucks are not very fragrant, including Quietness. If you are so inclined then Earthsong is for you. Lots of blooms. Prairie Sunrise is fragrant (if you like magic marker) but does not bloom constantly. Many of my Austins have also died over the winter. Sharifa Asma and Abraham Darby survive with little disease but do not bloom constantly. As for Romanticas, Frederic Mistral survives the winter and has nice fragrant hybrid tea blooms. This is a good choice and produces a fair number of blooms. Peter Mayle died over the winter. Bolereo and Comtesse de Province are new this season but have produced lots of nice fragrant blooms; you will probably have to winter protect them. An old garden rose that is hardy and blooms in flushes is Rose de Rescht, although it gets some "creeping crud" on the leaves (my rugosa Hansa also has black leaves by this time of year)....See MorePlease help me pick vanity!
Comments (3)Hi pricklypear - thanks for your input! Well, it's a new build with craftsman details...so I've selected more modern (but classic) finishes. Since it's a new build in the process, I don't have pics of completed bathrooms/kitchen available right now. But, there are espresso shaker cabinets in the master and main bath as well. One with brushed nickel hardware and granite vanity, the other with polished nickel and marble vanities. Kitchen has creamy white shaker cabs with espresso island. My initial thought is that the RH parson sink will have the same general look/feel as the other bathrooms and kitchen and provide some consistency. While the weathered oak vanity would provide some contrast/interest and just a different look? What do you think?...See MoreIt looks bad, help me pick a better cabinet color
Comments (15)You chose a color for the cabinets that is only existing in the slab but not at all in the tile . The cabinets in direct contact with the tile doesn't look nice . The slab is far up on the counters and tub surround . I agree with everybody else to choose one of the colors in the tile that is in the slab too to use it for the cabinets . If you don't like the cream , go for the darker beigy colour in the tile , although I think that the lighter color in the tile will be nicer and lighten your bathroom . What I would do is get a sample of the two colors and paint a board of each and see which one I like better ....See Moreilikefriday
