Cestrum 'Orange Peel' is indeed fragrant
Comments (11)Dear Robert, Your knowledge of fragrant plants is extensive. I look forward to reading your comments. Vanilla with spicy undertones for Aglaia? I think Roy Genders must have simply heard it described that way at a cocktail party, and repeated it because it sounded good!I would love to smell a plant like that if they do exist though, because it does sound wonderful. Clean, sparkling and lemon scented are much more inline with my experience of Chinese perfume plant, but shouldn't we start a thread for it too? Yes, I do know what you mean about brushing up against Cestrum 'Orange Peel'. It is a distinct nightshade scent, found even in tomato foliage, but in cestrums, without the green note, and stronger. It is funny that you should mention the smell of the foliage. I noticed it in particular in this cultivar myself. I think its nightshade odor is strong in itself, but because the leaves are softer than, say Cestrum Nocturnum, it is more easily expressed. And of course, if you are nosing around the flower trying to write a description up for the fragrant forum, this is something you will likely do! You may get a stronger wiff of the foliage this way than the appealing flowers. Perhaps, we should simpy stand back, and allow Cestrum 'Orange Peel' to offer up its fragrance in due time Best wishes, Sincerely, Matt...See More(Hosta) Ignorance is bliss?
Comments (20)When I moved to our new house (in a development - grass, 2 trees and 4 shrubs) 6 years ago, I spent the winter thinking about what I could do - a woodland garden (tiny) was possible, so off I went to Lowes and HD and bought 2 packs of hosta, nice shade of green: 5 for $7.97. Guess what I did this summer - I dug up all 10 because they were all infected with Hosta Virus X, which I learned about this year because I'd become a Hostaholic and joined the local hosta group. I now have well over 200 different hosta in my garden - and I find great joy just looking at them and planning their placement! My poor son is digging me nursery bed and his girlfriend is planting all the hostas I stupidly bought this summer while I have a hugely herniated back and cannot bend to pull up my jeans, let alone plant a hosta! Thank heavens they love me enough to do that for me! Both are computer whizzes and outside is a place they rarely go - programming beats planting any day! Well I have all winter to recover, and all winter to decide where I'm going to plant these little lovelies! Jakki...See MoreShowerhead (+ Cust. Service) Bliss: Boy, Have I Been Missing Out!
Comments (2)[ooooh, can I enable Red once again?] Red, you know I had to be a bit skeptical about all this! [Mr Vix remains skeptical blah blah blah nothing wrong with old one. Has he showered at home vs gym since I installed? No!] Neatitems does have a return/exchange policy that seemed fair, so that helped me get off ye olde caboose and just choose. Let me tell you, the Danze soaks my also-thick, nearly shoulder-length hair VERY quickly -- and thus gets out the shampoo/conditioner much faster. Honestly if I weren't in there lingering my showers would be speedier. If you want rainshower, you might want to take a look at the Aussie showerhead too (I've seen it on other sites, but NI does sell). It's the same spray intensity, and it comes in 3.5" and 6" and has a lot of testimonials there. I just liked the vintage vibe of the Danze a smidge better! If you want mega-powerful, the Giessdorf 6 or 8 Jet may be your best bet. [I think you need a strong shower arm for them, though -- I got the 6 for use on half the strong dual arm and that sucker is HEAVY!] IME Christina's great re: emails so if you're wavering, I'd say contact her. Feel free to tell her a now-happy Oregonian sent ya. Let me know if you enter the Blissful Shower Zone, ha! Comments (12)Yes indeed I have SP'd my Mr L to make space for Firefighter! Firefighter opens slowly like a florist rose and he lasts a long time in the vast. Fragrance is very strong and long lasting as well. Repeat is very fast. Also much less thorny than Mr L. What a great rose!...See Moredianela7analabama
