help me pick bathroom tiles, please!
Comments (6)Slate tile is a great choice. I have it in a washroom and we love it. But it does tend to feel cold underfoot. Any chance you are considering under floor heating in that bathroom. We got brushed slate, which means that there are no rough edges or shaling going on. We got a dark grey colour but I also saw it in other colours, lighter grey (almost a greige colour), a green colour and some that was closer to black but had some significant rust colour in it. If you have a look, you should find it easily and it came in many sizes as well. I like something like 12 X 18 or 12 X 24 tile for flooring. When you say you want to use it in the shower as well, do you mean on the floor of the shower? If so, then you'd need much smaller tiles for that to accommodate the slope needed towards the drain in the floor. But you can likely find the same stone in smaller tile sizes. I recommend the brushed slate for the smoothness. Some slate I looked at I felt the ridges were enough to catch your toe and some were quite sharp feeling as well. I think that could look really fantastic with a white subway tile. Have a look at some of the handmade looking tiles. That might go really nicely with the rustic look of the slate tile for the floor. Have you chosen a vanity? We went with a pearly grey colour and that was the colour of grout we used as well and it looks great....See MoreNarrow bathroom floor tile help please
Comments (3)IMO small tiles make spaces feel smaller and I almost always use 12 x 24 tile on flooors and shower walls especially in small bathrooms but you have a pretty narrow walkway there so best to figure out how you want the tile layed as you don’t want slivers of tile if they can be avoided....See MorePlease help- small bathroom tile idea
Comments (20)#1 is eye catching & #2 is more subtle. It’s all a matter of personal choice; you are the one seeing & cleaning it everyday. Recently had tub removed & shower installed in narrow bathroom. Daltile floor and MSI porcelain wall tiles. Lower wall tiles used 1’x2’ rectangular and upper tile above accent border used 18 inch squares turned diagonally. Used Lacitate grout, it comes with sealer already mixed into the dry grout. A little more expensive but mold & mildew proof translates to less scrubbing. We have better things to do! Sorry about pics couldn’t delete or correct. Top one gives a fuller view but is lighter in real time....See MoreHelp me fix these red tiles in master bathroom please!
Comments (28)I would choose a tile paint that would cover ONLY the red. Find a colour that would work for the bathroom (with floor pattern as-is) and then go ahead and paint JUST the red. But that means you would HAVE to change out the light/plug-in facing to the same colour (or match the wall tile colour). Personally (because I am cheap and lazy) I would look at large throw rugs (no backing...just natural fibres...you have in-floor heat) to cover up most of the floor. By leaving a bit of the red peeping out means you can leave the switch plates alone. If you are moving in 4 years, you can reassess in 3 years. Remember: if you are moving in a short amount of time, you are not the 'owner' you are designing for. You are trying to design for someone else. Someone you do NOT know. That's tough enough on it's own....See MoreMonrovia Mom
