Cabinet install - it doesn't look right - HELP!!!
Comments (36)lazygardens photo shoes variations, but just different shades of the same tone. RED is a whole different family than Brown, and I can't imagine the same wood turning RED with a simple varnish. I'm with you. I would be bothered by the completely different color hues. It would be understandable, light vs dark in the SAME color family, but 2 different families on one piece of wood? Looks to me like 2 different woods. I just walked in our pub and looked at the butcher block top, stained in a walnut tone, and yes, there are variations, but every little piece of the block has the same tone. Maybe the fix would be to strip the whole thing, stain it all one color, and then apply varnish? I am sorry this happened to you. Good luck with getting the contractor to fix it for you. If you still owe money you do have leverage. An unhappy customer is not good business for any contractor. Fingers Crossed for you!...See Moredishwasher panels are drawer fronts?
Comments (6)Look at the side of the metal trim on the dishwasher. If there are screws there you should be able to take out the black front and install a wood panel in its place. Normally a 1/4" wood panel will slip into the trim. If you want it to have the styling to match your cabinet doors you can get the closest size door to screw onto the panel. You have to be careful on the bottom panel that the top panel won't hit the styled bottom panel when the door is open. Usually the bottom panel is just the 1/4" paneling without an applied drawerhead for that reason.Any kitchen cabinet supplier or millshop should be able to help you with this. How well it integrates will depend on how customizable the cabinet line is. Most custom cabinet lines let you order the styled part to any size thus giving the most integrated look. If you have the model number of the dishwasher try to look it up on-line. If the dishwasher can take panels the specs should provide the panel sizes you should order....See MoreHow to use a panel-ready dishwasher with partial overlay cabinets?
Comments (20)Cheryl, tell me about your cabinet door.s How are you getting these done? I know your example kitchen well as it is the inspiration for MY 40's kitchen as well. ALL the cabinet makers in my area will only make 1/2 in thick slab doors with a rounded edge and a standard overlay when the originals are only 1/4 inch thick because the door is inset into the opening of the face frame with an overhang onto the frame. (so you WERE right when referencing "inset" cabinets.) The old way was to inset the door into the face frame with 1/4 inch outside the face frame. follow me? So my question is have you found someone to inet the door so the profile is only 1/4 inch? Or are you going with a standard slab and a rounded edge? I REALLY want to find an old school maker to have "real" vintage cabinets....See Morecustom panel for dishwasher that matches cabinets? yes/no?
Comments (23)We had a Thermador dishwasher with custom panel at our last house and loved it! We'd open the DW after the cycle to help air-dry the dishes too, and you could see the steam coming off but there were never any warping issues. Maybe it depends on the quality of the panel's wood? It was next to the fridge though, so sometimes we'd bang the slightly ajar door with the fridge door and the alignment became off-kilter (I was able to adjust that on my own with some elbow grease though!) so probably don't place it next to the fridge LOL. In our new house, we are planning to buy a Bosch DW with custom panel. Good luck!...See Morewdccruise
